I make that distinction (and you are right now), so it can't possibly be "no one" that does.
Well, I meant "no one besides me". Though I don't recall it I am glad to know you do it to. Unfair characterizations are always unfair, regardless of who the subject is.
Well a quick search of my posting history shows I've never mentioned the WBC here. But naming them anyway itself is a distinction isn't it? Clearly when we say Al Qaeda or the Taliban we aren't saying "all Muslims" and when we say Westboro Bapstist Church we aren't saying "all Christians".
More on topic: Obviously the protest, riots, and violence are pushed by rabble rousing individuals, many of them imams. In the United-States we have pastors/priests who encourage their parishioners to attend anti-abortion rallys and protest gay pride parades but what's the percentage that actually take them up on it? I'm sure it corresponds to how fundamentalist the area and church are. But why do these protests not result in violence? Separation of church and state... a police force willing and able to protect "heathens". I'm sure that where we see violence in the middle east related to these protests it's because the police are right alongside with them or are unable to prevent it without being labeled "infidels" themselves.
edit: Red State, yeah I've been meaning to see that one. I can't really hate on WBC too much... They're known for their disgusting protests and beliefs but they're also a band of lawyers who regularly take up freedom of speech issues that in the end benefit everyone.
