Out of the Blue

Well the new iPhone announcement came pretty well-timed for MrsBlue and me, as our several-year old phones are in actual need of replacement with audio issues and diminishing battery life. It says something about how needlessly complex mobile providers make things (I don't think this is unique to Verizon) that I was unable to complete my order online, but was pleasantly surprised to end up talking about this with someone in Tennessee, rather than halfway around the world, and she made it a very pleasant process along the way, going so far as to credit me for a month to make up for my cell modem still being under contract.

Smart Links: Thanks Ant and Acleacius.
Play: Fatty Genius.
Stories: All-time heat record taken from Libya and given to California.
Stasi files- The world's biggest jigsaw puzzle. Thanks brother19.
Science: Deaf gerbils 'hear again' after stem cell cure.
Media: Skyrim Trailer - Misinterpreted Lyrics. Thanks nin.

Reach is still in shinkwrap for me.

But, since I got my 40+ hours out of OMD2 and did all I could do, I've moved on to Uncharted 3. Man, these games are great, but 3 feels like it has less to do. And it's still the only game whose camera makes me a bit dizzy. And I don't particularly like that, even on Hard, it flashes the button you need to hit to counter when you should counter rather than just letting you notice the guy winding up to swing at you.

Still, though, these games are the pinnacle of the genre. Great characters, great acting, great setpieces, and great action. I just feel like, 4.5 hours into this one, I haven't done much other than walk around or run from things.

Don't forget FTL!!! So much gaming goodness...why the hell would you want a console?!?
(Well, I mean except for HALO, of course... If they brought REACH out for PC I think I'd...I'd...well, I'd send them a really nice letter asking why the FRACK did it take so long?!? And then I'd do a happy dance... )

Today is also Black Mesa release day. Finally. Although, the links are all jammed and it hasn't appeared on Steam yet.
