Diablo III Patch Sneak Peak

The Diablo III Website now offers a sneak peak at what to expect from the upcoming version 1.0.5 patch for Blizzard's action/RPG, saying they will offer articles with more detail over the coming days, implying the patch is not far off. The new version will include defensive skill changes and reduced incoming damage to promote build diversity, a new Infernal Machine device to allow high-level players to play steroidal bosses, and a new Monster Power system designed to give players more control over how challenging enemies are in each difficulty. They also have a new article called Voices of Diablo III, Part One talking with the voice actors behind Tyrael, Azmodan, and Covetous Shen.

There are very few item restrictions in D3 (they actually removed restrictions on 2handed weapons), and getting a "class specific weapon" is not necessary at all. Imagine if there were real archtype restrictions on these items, like oldschool mmo's... and monks couldn't use anything with a blade on it.

Poor itemization in BL2 will be the first thing (Well, one of the first things... I'm sure...) everyone starts complaining about. 87 bazillion weapons and 12 good ones, just like the first game.

No, it'll be fine. They buffed the weapon classes and changed a lot of the modifiers so that everything is more useful. It's not like the first game where you had 5 different weapon types that were a complete waste of time.

Difference being every class in BL can equip any of those 87 bazillion weapons. I have yet to get a wicked awesome item for the actual class I'm playing in D3.

WoW (and the popularization of MMO's in general) has changed the way gamers work, and the general public will never be able to fully accept a random loot game anymore. They need to know that when they kill X mob... W, Y, or Z item can drop but you know going in that they are upgrades for someone you are playing with. No one wants to deal with vendor fodder anymore or the off chance that a good deal of effort may result in a random item that no one can use.

Iím sick to death of how lousy the loot drops are in the game. You would think after killing Diablo on inferno mode with three other players that there would be some good drops. But when you see a level 58 item drop or even when a level 63 items does drop and you id it and its got shit stats on it. Thatís where the frustration sets in and you just say fuck this game. This is where Blizzard is failing their users and why people are at the point of no return and saying fuck you Blizzard, we have had enough.

The lack of good loot and epic items dropping has killed this game for many. Blizz just keeps screwing with the game but they are fixing all the wrong things. They are blinded by their own obsession and completely fail to listen to the users.
This is precisely why I gave up on D3. The patch notes had a bunch of great stuff, but what they fail to realize is, as long as the loot drops consistently blow, players will feel unrewarded and move on to other games. Pretty basic concept that they just don't get.

No, they do get it. This is what I said originally. It's how they get people into the AH and make money.

No, they think they get it. What they will end up getting though, is reduced sales overall. Foot, meet bullet.

I enjoy Diablo 3 and look forward to seeing what they do with it.

That being said, I just learned that the guaranteed yellow for 5 stacks of nephalem is attribute capped, which means there is a definite ceiling on how good that item can be. This in and of itself is a leading reason why people feel that all the drops are terrible, and should definitely be changed.

Metaphor time!

It feels like the carrot that Blizzard is dangling of guaranteed rare drops is just a piece of crap painted orange.

I also feel like a dedicated gambler finding out exactly how my preferred casino is rigging their games.

D3 is dead, or at least in a coma. PoE, TL2, BL2 all coming out in short order, all of them most likely more fun than the slogfest Blizzard released.

I think I'll check back in on D3 in about 2 years or so.

If Facebook P2W games are here to stay and feed the tens of millions of unwashed masses, you can bet your Blizzard dollar that Diablo 3 is here to stay. Mission Accomplished to Blizzard, I'll give them at least that.

Well I'm still having fun in it.

I'm sorry, all I heard was "torchlight 2 comes out in a week!"

I don't have very high expectations myself, but I am hopeful... But holy crap... BL2 Tuesday, TL2 Thursday, Mists the following Tuesday... And next week is the busiest I'll have been at work in months...

I've been enjoying Path of Exile too much to even think about D3 anymore. Now we have BL2 and TL2 coming out. D3 is becoming a distant speck in the rearview.
