Because in some places being a corner requires no medical training. In the UK you can become one with only legal training(barrister/solicitor). Welcome to the micky mouse system.
The fact that you're both right is what's astounding here. Coroners are there to determine the physical cause of death, nothing else. That's it. Rule out homicide, that sort of thing.

Psychological reasons are so beyond their scope, especially without extensive medical training akin to what a psychiatrist gets in 8+ years of med school, are jokingly impossible. This is insane.
