| The coroner discovered cause of death was from his thumbs being bruised from playing too much CoD on Xbox. Bruising hemorrhaged into the brain. Recommends siblings use a keyboard & mouse in the future. |

Because in some places being a corner requires no medical training. In the UK you can become one with only legal training(barrister/solicitor). Welcome to the micky mouse system. The fact that you're both right is what's astounding here. Coroners are there to determine the physical cause of death, nothing else. That's it. Rule out homicide, that sort of thing.
Psychological reasons are so beyond their scope, especially without extensive medical training akin to what a psychiatrist gets in 8+ years of med school, are jokingly impossible. This is insane. |

Feel good councilors don't cut it for childhood depression- it's a physiological problem that can't be talked through The worst is church counselors: "you need to pray more." You do. But you also need a correct antidepressant and the supervision that goes with it.
Hack psychologists that drop a bottle of Prozac in a parent's lap then forget about the patient that isn't right in front of them are just as bad.
Prozac for example is a pretty effective disinhibitor- give it to a bipolar person and it will fill in their lows then potencially drive them to violent psychosis when they hit their highs. |

| The telegraph continuing it's fine downward slide into journalistic oblivion. Makes you wonder why it's not doing an investigative piece on why the corner used CoD instead of oh...everything else that was mentioned in this thread instead. Video games are just the easy way out when you're looking for a reasonable answer. I know, I was on a coroner's jury and this was one of the causes that was looked at. It was very easy for the people who didn't pay attention to say "that was it." |

The coroner should be sacked for talking bullsh*t. Yes- the world cannot and will not be rendered into one big padded room. Plenty of folks are still trying to do just that though.
Anyone who thinks their child is suffering from mental illness needs to invest in a good CLINICAL psychologist at a minimum. If you're looking into anti-depressants spring for a Psychiatrist (12 years of higher education and they monitor anti-depressant use properly).

God, I just wanna take that coroner and beat the living crap out of him! (After I play some ModernWarfare3, that is... )
Why, why, why? That's my only question to the stupid paper, why?
The comments below the story explain why the title is bullshit. I'm not gonna go into it, this happens like 10 times a year and nothing is EVER learned by it. Whether that be not blaming fuckin' video games for social problems or that out-of-touch officials should keep there fuckin' mouths SHUT!

Wow what a shitty coroner.
How about "14 year old tragically hangs himself after suffering from clinical depression."? |
