WinXP was one of the best consumer OS's ever made. That being said, it's old as hell, outdated when compared to modern hardware, and it's time is up.
Thankfully MS got their heads out of thier asses long enough to produce Win7, which is the XP of our time.
Win7 64-bit has been as stable as my Slackware machine, and that is saying A LOT. |

Even if this was a game I cared about I'd be fine with this. It's time to move on.
In that respect, it's also time to move on from 32-bit systems.
Yep. XP had a great run, but it's past it's prime...

Still waiting for the Free elite PC service. No surprise on the XP part... Isn't CoD:Anything played out by now? I know I am done supporting the Franchise. I had my fun. It's nice to see them using some PC specific things though. |

It doesn't mater much when you still port over maps the size of a shoebox and then try to jam 32 players into them.

In that respect, it's also time to move on from 32-bit systems. I run, and my entire company runs, on win 7 64 bit now, and it's been a year or two and there hasn't been a single issue. I'm not sure *why* Windows 7 didn't come default as a 64-bit system in fact. Couldn't tell you. I have run Win7 64 bit since Win7 was released. The whole time hearing people say how bad it was, yet I had no issues. Never made sense to me. Used to hear the same things about WinXP x64 and Vista x64... ran both of them without incident, either. Regardless, considering my desktop has 16GB of RAM now, a 64-bit OS is basically mandatory. |

The DirectX 11 API itself supports feature levels for 9/10/11 and so on.

So, there must be at least a DirectX 10 fallback. So really what they meant to say is that since the game requires at least DirectX 10 Windows XP is not supported. DirectX 11 (the software API) is backwards compatible with DirectX 10 hardware. The API will automatically enable/disable features based on hardware support.
The DirectX 9/XP cut-off is due to the fact that DX10 was essentially re-engineered from the ground-up to support the overhauled driver model (WDDM) which was first introduced in Vista. |

| Not surprised. As much as I once loved XP, no OS lasts forever. Soon no PC game will support XP. |
