I mean yeah, there is cross-over but they aren't in direct competition are they? That's just ridiculous. There was never a time when I was torn between firing up Borderlands and Torchlight 1, Titan Quest or any similar ARPG.
Borderlands is a FPS first and foremost. It has a couple of similarities with items and skills in isometric ARPGs but that's it. The mechanics are different and the skillset to play them is different.
The only way they compete is if someone was going to buy both games and discovers that they came out at the same time and their budget is limited. |

True, but even so, Borderlands 2 is a big, big release. Releasing so shortly after that is going to cost them sales. Runic is not worried because most of their customers already bought the game and are just waiting for delivery. Hehe, that's probably very true.

Oh well. I'm not sure how you got that impression. They're utterly different games in many ways; they just happen to belong to the same genre. It's a bit like saying BF3 and CoD feel exactly the same because they're both multiplayer FPS with a leveling system and a similar setting. |

My wife is going to kill me, I ve played the last 3 weeks more than 30hs Skyrim (which is boring me to hell) and 30hs Dark Soul Prepare to Die (which I really love and played to death on the 360) Im in Anor Londo and died less than 10 times on this playthrough.
Now Borderlands 2 and Torchlight 2, she is going to divorce me...
I think im going to abandon Skyrim, never understood what was good about it. Talking and traverling all the time, and as a Destruction Mage and Alchemist almost all fights are easy end really quick. Maybe a time waster for sad people? (Prepares to receive all kinds of aggresions) |

*wrote this before seeing Pyro's post Let me put it this way: both games are diablo clones as far as gameplay goes.
Borderlands is first person tho, so I guess it's a Hellgate clone... |

Borderlands is essentially an ARPG with guns, so there's definitely some overlap with a title like Torchlight 2. Both games feature random item drops and skill trees (though Borderlands skills tend to be passive rather than active). Yes, there will definitely be some lost revenue from competition - though from which title I can't say. For many gamers it may be a question of which game is purchased at full price and which one is a holiday sale purchase. |

It's the same thing, except that one is guns and first person and the other is swords and top-down. Same game pretty much. One way to put it is: BL2 is the worst game, of all the games to be released, that Torchlight 2 could release at the same time as... |

| This release date is really dumb on their part. Why do they want to compete with Borderlands 2? I’m all for the game coming out, but I feel that the game should have come out a few weeks ago. Oh well, at least it’s almost here. With GW2, Borderlands 2 and TL2 it’s going to be a very busy fall. |
