Prey 2 Not Cancelled

Bethesda's Pete Hines tweets a clarification that he never stated Prey 2 was cancelled after a translation error sparked a rumor that the delayed FPS sequel had been "canx." He goes on to clarify that he "simply reiterated what we've said previously, which is that it's not coming out this year." Thanks VG247.

same thing happened to rogue warrior too. it was a completely different game when zombie were working on it.

I would have preferred a "real" sequel, exploring the gameplay mechanics and style of Prey 1 instead of trying something completely different, which isnt actually different at all, just pleasing the "gimme sandbox gameplay now" crowd. A potential Steam sale for five bucks ...

The delay is a result of Bethesda hiring a different developer to basically overhaul the game, so don't expect the past E3 demos to be indicative of the final game. It's pretty surprising that Bethesda would do such a thing when you consider how shoddy most of their third-party games are. Rogue Warrior, anyone? And then you look at how buggy their first-party games are (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Skyrim) and that casts even greater doubt upon their quality standards. I'm thinking this situation has more to do with politics and less to do with quality control.
