Because I don't want to download 30GB of Max Payne 3 to be able to play it for thirty minutes. The whole point of streaming is that games are INSTANTLY playable. If all I want to do is demo a game it'd take far more bandwidth to download a client than to stream it for a short while.
And publishers would never allow rentals otherwise, as it makes piracy even easier.
Streaming destroys piracy, and used sales, hence the attraction. Hence why we'll one day be on it. Again, could be 5 years, could be 50, but it's where we're going.
