If that's what people need to do these days, then we've entered a sad time. Or you know, they could just pick up the box, turn it to the side (either side) and read 'Internet Connection Required', it's also specified again, on the top and bottom flaps of the box too.
So if reading a requirement that's printed on the box 4 times is too much for people to do these days, they yes, we've entered a very sad time.
Oh wait! It's also printed on the front AND back too. So it's literally on every single side of the box. Does it say required to play or just required? Many people these days are used to seeing required and knowing it means a rare check or two, but not always online the whole time |

Sheeple... I don't think D3 was an amazing game by any stretch. It was also somewhat less than I would expect for a Blizzard title. That said, seriously? Most people, including the whiners, got over 100 hours out of the title, so it obviously wasn't that bad. People will certainly play things for a bit even after they have stopped having fun with them if they hope it will become fun later, but not for 100+ hours...
EDIT: Also, people really still use 'sheeple'? |

now, what about message about always online DRM. playing single player, online. is that message clear or is it still buried in fine print someone on the cover, phrased in a vague manner? You mean as clear as when they openly announced it months before launch, and repeated it ad nauseum until the game was released?
Are you even trying anymore? Ya, because everyone reads gaming news websites before they buy a game. No. People just go and enter a gaming shop and suddenly buy whatever they see on the shelves that looks good. if the cover doesn't have the necessary "research" on it, then the buyer assumes the research has already been done, by the company, in the favor of the customer. But, fine print messages aren't really in the favor of the customer.
You really think someone is going to see a game on the shelf, and walk away and go home first to research it? No. Get real.

It doesn't excuse that those are design philosophies that should have been in the game before launch, but it proves they are listening. |
