Well, they chose a cheaper price over paying the licensing cost for DVD playback, given how few people are watching DVDs on PCs these days. If you want to watch a DVD you can buy the optional Media Center pack.

Fine by me. Given that I'll never watch a DVD on a PC again, I'd prefer a $15 product over a more expensive one.
