Not in this field, you can only react. You cannot see patterns and get ahead of a problem. You just wait for it to happen. Address it next month and put out another CRITICAL PATCH, which by the way I don't always install timely and haven't seen the true CRITICALNESS of them. I think there was a book about this, about crying wolves or something.
Because if everything is critical (or most) then nothing is critical.
And if this is very important to you, just have updates automatically updating, thus you would not need news like this because you are already covered in a "been there done that" kind of way.

You can only have so many critical patches before they just become another standard patch and my god what did they forget this time? I'm starting to believe they will never get their things right and secure.  |
