Thanks for making my morning! I'm guessing that would mean 700-800K, but even that is being generous... If they "confess" that it is less than a million and only "well over 500K" then I'm sure it's somewhere between 500K and 600K. If it would be over 600K, 700K, 800K or even 900K then they wouldn't have said "well over 500K" but they would have referred to the nearest full 100K to make themselves look better. They didn't so it's almost guaranteed that it's less than 600K.

| It's hilarious that despite being an utter train wreck at release, Star Wars Galaxies was far more interesting and ambitious than The Old Republic turned out to be. I remember all of the "KOTOR3! Ignore the MMO part!" stuff from people but it was not even remotely a good KOTOR game either. It's sad because Mass Effect was created over Star Wars licensing issues, they later get the license back in some form but just made a very mediocre MMORPG out of it. I think TOR is one of the most straight line, boring games I've played in the MMO arena. There is just no design ambition or soul to the experience. |

When they started the project... I was somewhat intrigued with the concept of immersive story in an MMO... but as they rolled out videos of it over the years (before launch)... it was fairly apparent that the implementation wasn't going to work, especially with forced grouping on flash points, and space on rails mini game.
Bioware had some good ideas, but couldn't deliver on them / execute them properly.
So, now it's just grab the popcorn and watch it burn... which is funny and sad at the same time.
I played the beta and found it ok (I think I just didn't like the smuggler mechanic of "find cover!!!"), and about a month of retail before I quit. While I found it fun at first, the longer it went on, the more the repetition showed (go to planet, clear 4 zones, fly home, hit AH, repeat). In addition, it didn't feel like there was much of anything to differentiate it from any other MMO on the market. The SW license could only take it so far...and space battles on rails? Really???
It wasn't a bad game, but it wasn't a particularly good one, either. And it didn't seem to offer anything you couldn't find elsewhere or hadn't seen a number of times before. It felt like an average MMO that they tossed the SW license on top of.

2. Díablo 3 is a PC exclusive. Especially the console sales of Max Payne 3 were very weak in the first few weeks.
3. Torchlight 2 Pre-order sales INCREASED during the release of D3.
No, MP3 failed commercially because it was produced for the CoD crowd which hasn't any interrest in this "old" IP at all. And the few players who still remember Max Payne didn't want a "modern" shooter, they want a classic max Payne game. With less brazilian summer, more New Yorker winter, less "cinematics", more gameplay. |

It was pretty damn linear and scripted. It had a little bit of wiggle room, but really only a tiny bit more than MW3. MW3 had almost zero. BioShock had a little bit. HL had less than that.
On consoles, though, MW3 isn't bought primarily for single player, and it offers hands down the best multiplayer experience, if only due to polish and player count (the latter being pretty important, and it seems as if, since CounterStrike, we've moved to where one game eats up all the players. The PC seems to be reversing that a bit.) "hands down the best multiplayer experience" Helllll no. On the 360? At this point it's damn near the only multiplayer experience. You have more people playing even older Call of Duty games than anything else. Unless you're playing with friends, you get a better experience in a lesser game with a big crowd than a better game with long matchmaking waits that put you in servers you have a bad ping to because only 4 other people are looking for a game at the same moment you are. I have no idea about the 360. I was saying, in general, as a game. Sure, if noone else is playing, then there's a problem, but there are lots of games with many players... "On consoles, though... it offers hands down the best multiplayer experience." Key words used: "on consoles," "experience." BF3 is better |

I wouldn't've noticed because I'm obsessive about exploring everything. You couldn't skip hubs, if that's what you mean. There were lots of optional rooms with loot and lore stuff though. You could also go back to previous hubs if you wanted. Yeah no, Bioshock was linear. Major let down for me.
