But then there's definitely nothing to talk about if you don't actually have experience with it.

Although I agree it's not even close to being the smoothest engine around at least it works and it's easy.
In fact, this is the easiest engine for someone with no knowledge of coding and scripint to create something cool. And I don't think it's a random event that out of all the possibilities out there DayZ was created on Arma2.

So say what you will - nobody else is crying.

I never bought Arma2. Why would i buy a shitty devoper's game just for a mod that will be available later. If you dont think this game has one of the worst engines in the history of FPS then i think you should "Please leave the internet".

lol.
Not unlike a lot of other mods in the past then which have enjoyed great success and later turned stand alone, huh?

You're dissapointed for buying Arma II just for that?
If you can't stand it why buy it then?
Not happy with the 4+ months of great experience you'll get from the mod/game before the standalone can come out? Is the 20something quid spent on a steam sale that much of an arm and a leg for you and you'd much rather have spent twice as much on an AAA which boasts a whopping 6 hours of gameplay?

Also a quite from the article itself:
“In order for people to not feel ripped off we need to have a load of new content; so, things like base-building, tidying and cleaning up animations and add ragdoll physics as the like.”

If you call this a shitty developer then to quote someone else in Blues "Please leave the internet"

Why doesn't he get the mod running right first. Also, how many people would want to buy a stand alone copy now after buying ARMA II CO specifically for Day Z? Get this done right and then follow up with a Day Z two in a year or so would be the smart thing to do. Then he can kickstart that and if he needs money now just ask for donations like people used to do in the shareware days.

P.S. That was a pretty impressive Machinima of the 300.

Why perfect the free mod, when you're limited by the original architecture, when you can put that time and effort into a less limited full version?

Indeed, it sucks that we all bought Arma 2 just for this, but it makes sense to shift to a full release. Especially given that many of the issues of DayZ are inherent from Arma 2.
