You're missing the point. Kickstarter is for people who have a good idea but don't have the money to make it a reality. These people who have a legitimate need for funding will end up being crowded out and/or much harder to find when sifting through the multitude of KS projects that don't honour the spirit of what KS is about. It's the difference between the letter of the law and the spirit of it. I have no problem with what PA wants to do, I just object to them using KS to do it. They can easily do it on their own.
The problem is that you don't really want Kickstarter sitting there making arbitrary judgment calls about what is "in the spirit of Kickstarter." They need to remain as neutral as possible for the platform to have any credibility.
Kickstarter is a tool to enable crowdfunding, nothing more. The users decide what deserves funding, not Kickstarter. End of story. |
