There is non-stop coverage in the media about the shooting at the Batman premiere, with an obsession with the answer to "why" this would happen. The answer is easy: To get non-stop coverage in the media.

I agree that seeing a comedy is great in a theater, it's fun to laugh with a crowd.

For the rest though, in MY experience:

- NJ has 1 active drive-in, and it's over 2hours from where I live. So THAT'S out. The rest all closed down.

- Staff or management NEVER intervenes. I've even seen people leave to complain to them only to come back and say they won't do anything. This is at 3 theaters in 3 completely different towns.

- I imagine if they did intervene with a crying baby, the parents would go ballistic about "unfair treatment of new mothers" and blablabla. Don't get me wrong: if a mother has to breast-feed or something in public then they should be able to (and NO, I don't find it hot) I get annoyed at people that freak out and ask the woman to leave, said people should "grow up." But a screaming baby in a theater for a rated R movie? At late night? Seriously?

- People messing with the cellphones in an ANNOYING manner... mostly adults. Kids might use them, but they're smart enough to turn the sound off so MAYBE I see a glow in my peripheral vision. Chances are they're filming it anyway. Adults (like 25-35yo), let it ring, answer the phone, talk on the phone, etc. They also get VERY hostile when people approach to ask them to be quiet.

- People talking too much... the elderly, and certain young-kids. BUT it's gotten better.

- I'm happy to say I haven't seen a stupid laser pointer in maybe 3-5 years.

- Kicking my seat doesn't happen much anymore, save for someone bumping it on the way to the restroom.
