Ubisoft DRM Glitch Ends

The Ubisoft forums have an apology from Ubisoft for an outage in the Uplay service, which failed to live up to its name as Ubi's online DRM servers went down over the weekend, preventing their games from being authenticated and leaving them unplayable. Word is: "The Uplay PC service should now be up and running properly. Please try logging into your game and let us know if you have any issues," and word on Destructoid is that this us due to demand from the ongoing Steam sale, supported by Steam Support's retweet of Ubi's tweet about the outage (thanks Chris via Reddit).

go download a crack.
Mehh never bothered with this. Maybe the games I own from UBI doesn't have the DRM scheme or I was just lucky and never had issues with my internet. Whatever the case may be their DRM didn't cause me personally any headache yet, if it will I'll just grab a crack for the games that has issues.

I was one of the idiots who bought Heroes VI at release. Even without the DRM insanity, the game was released unfinished. One of my worst game purchases ever. Right up there with Gothic III.

Still better then EA where you loose access to your games for talking shit on their forums !

My impression is that that guy who got his EA account banned from online play just didn't know how to switch to Origin's offline mode, but always had access to all the games he bought in single-player. If you actually need for Ubi DRM servers to be up to play a single player game, this is much worse.

It's almost like the whole industry decided to add another step to installing PC games; go download a crack.

This is a great example of why I have stopped buying Ubisoft games. I drop somewhere in the neighborhood of $120 on games a month... mostly on the latest and greatest stuff coming out. But Ubisoft could come out with something that was the gaming equivalent to the second coming of Christ, and I wouldn't blink.

Bullshit! Every single one of you DRM-scared pussies is gonna bend over for Watch Dawgs .
Sure, just as Prez said: Skidrow and Razor1911 are your friends.

Thread derailment/hijacking attempt: You mean there was a first coming?!

I guess you play Diasko 3 ?and if so forget about this "Hopefully they will get rid of this DRM" because you accepted it with one game tho not the other....Thats wierd don't ya think

Although you can draw a comparison between Uplay and Battle.Net, it really isn't that cut and dry. Even though anti-piracy is a big win for the publisher in how B.Net functions, it at least makes a honest attempt of giving the user features and security in exchange for the annoyance that is DRM. Blizzard has no legitimate reason for not offering an offline mode to D3, but to say their DRM scheme is the same as Uplay when it comes to user acceptance leaves out the added value B.Net offers.

I suppose though, in the end they are both still shackles that hamper your gaming experience, and a solid gold shackle with gems and shinies in it isn't much better than a cold iron one, but at least B.Net makes an effort to make up for it. If that effort isn't enough for you though... Well, don't buy any of their games. Problem solved.

I say the attitude blizzi has come out with makes them look even more like ubishit
That's a lot of assumption.
No I do not play Diablo, and I don't really like Blizzard games tbh. I do like some of the UBI titles however like FarCry, RUSE or Splinter Cell.

So they have no one to fix something like this over the weekend, and just wait until Monday to reboot the server? What kind of nickle and dime operation are they running?

I've told this story a few times but I used to play a lot of Rainbow Six Vegas 2 with friends. Almost weekly the servers would go down due to some bug in the server daemon and no one there knew how to fix it. I had to notify support so frequently to restart them that I eventually had most of the reps on instant messenger to save time going through the ticket system.

We give Gamespy a lot of shit but they were rock solid for most of Ubisoft's outsourced MP stuff compared to Ubisofts in house efforts.

I would have gotten the Ubisoft bundle off Steam if it weren't, yanno, Ubisoft. My husband was considering it for himself, but I convinced him it was a bad idea.

I buy Ubisoft games, when they are relased on GOG.com. Like Asassins Creed 1. Without any UbiDRM at all.
