This morning we escaped a nasty side effect of the heat wave that's engulfed our area when the garbage was collected. The problem was a chicken carcass that was a little far gone when it was thrown out right after the garbage was removed last week, so it sat around baking ever since. The extreme heat accelerated its return to nature considerably, and the smell from the garbage became so foul (no pun intended) it was almost unbearable. I just can't imagine what it must be like to be a sanitation worker at this time of year.

I'm still on DSL, as the new cable modem didn't fix things, so a repair guy is coming today. Fingers crossed.
