Out of the Blue

This morning we escaped a nasty side effect of the heat wave that's engulfed our area when the garbage was collected. The problem was a chicken carcass that was a little far gone when it was thrown out right after the garbage was removed last week, so it sat around baking ever since. The extreme heat accelerated its return to nature considerably, and the smell from the garbage became so foul (no pun intended) it was almost unbearable. I just can't imagine what it must be like to be a sanitation worker at this time of year.

I'm still on DSL, as the new cable modem didn't fix things, so a repair guy is coming today. Fingers crossed.

Personally, I lack a sense of smell. Have from as far back as I can remember... so at least 5 or 6 years old and I imagine all my life. While the lack made some things easier: working cr*p jobs at stores, the horrid out-houses on some camping trips, the dog getting hit with a skunk, etc.

It makes life annoying.

Not knowing that someone accidentally hit the stove knob while moving furniture and gas was filling the house.

Or problems with a car smelling like it was burning.

Not knowing the young and/or sick dog made a mess somewhere

Is something rotting somewhere? (Fell behind/under something)

Obviously, the "gas" and "car" things are the real safety concerns. Hence why part of me wants to go electric stove / oven. Those induction stoves are Sick.
