Clint Hocking Leaves LucasArts

Clint Hocking's blog announces the developer has parted ways with LucasArts, where he had been the most visible face of the company's game development efforts (thanks MCV). Word is he's already landed at a new undisclosed gig:

Yup, that's right, you heard it here first. Unless you heard it somewhere else first.

I recently left my job at LucasArts and am moving on to something new. Unlike last time, (and mercifully less wordy) I already have something lined up and I am currently in the process of dealing with the living hell of relocation.

I will let the world know where I am going once I get there. Unless you already know.

People also seem to think well of the Lego games, KotOR, Outlaws, the pod racing game, Full Throttle, and the Dig. People say good things about Rebellion, although I honestly don't understand why.

Grim Fandango was as good as or better than TIE Fighter, although obviously not directly comparable.

The Lego games are from Traveller's Tales. Star Wars was obviously license by LucasArts but not all their games are (Harry Potter and Batman for example).

last good game LucasArts made was Tie Fighter.

  • XWing Alliance was good
  • JediKnight 2 was awesome
  • JediKnight 3: Academy was good/aright
  • Republic Commando was quite good.

  • True, "Tie Fighter" smashed them all. But those above were solid.

Jedi Knight Outcast. Especially with the dismemberment code.

If you're a fan of lightsaber combat and you don't like that game, something is wrong with your perception of good gameplay

Only the name. George Lucas bought this company after he heard they have the same name. He then drove out all people who were able to make excellent games, only to be replaced with some clones and dark jedi, churning out one boring new trilogy SW game after another.

LucasArts? Oh right, I remember them. They used to make great games over a decade ago. They're still around?

    Far Cry 2 creative director.

His time at LucasArts was short lived, don't think he even finished whatever he was working on. I've been hearing it's not the great place to work that it once was.
