Sure, this is the Bashiok post on the Natalya Set bonus accident and how it caused them to start re-evaluating their direction in some things (balance, retroactive item changes, etc). I hope many more examples will follow and kudos to Blizzard for listening to the player feedback and having an open mind.

I love how 2 million LVL 60 Diablo3 players are jumping up and down for joy over this hotfix, but little do they know that the quality of those items are nerfed down, and will still require AH/RMAH to get the best items for play that Blizzard themselves , generate in there.

The entire item DB is known dude, there is nothing on the AH that can't drop aside from artisan items. Same is true of the actual item modifiers and properties. There isn't any grand conspiracy here, you can do a side by side comparison of the RMAH, gold AH and the actual drop DBs if you don't want to take my word for it.

Ya sounds like you might get your exploding chicken gun after all.

I appreciate the suggestion... I've considered putting some range in my build (maybe even spear with 'rage flip'), but I'm hesitant to put stuff in a build I'm really not going to want around after the one fight...

Your build seems to have all damage passives, and I'm not sure I can cope without some bonus armor/reduced damage.. : )

Well, your mileage may vary, but I literally do not have the gear to tank Inferno, on any character(except possibly my Monk who is still leveling up). I can get like 9000 Armor, somewhat crappy resists(300-400), and all the Barb defensive passives, but I still get killed in 2-3 hits. Damage seems more viable to me, until I get some more gear. I have used the Spear a bit, it's pretty good actually, but it ties you into using Rage Flip and No Escape. All of the other spears just bring enemies you are trying to avoid right into melee range...

Still, Spear is somewhat viable, and I'll probably go back to it once I get a better two hander, to make those Spear throws outright kill white trash/seriously damage rares/elites.

*Note: White Trash in this instance refers to non-rare/elite monsters in Diablo 3.

Haven't played D3 beyond the demo, so I have no Inferno experience. How does it compare to the endgame plans for Path of Exile? Is Inferno any fun? Is there any variety to it, and does it change much?

Yeah, you can play like a DH, running for your life while you hit them from afar, because getting hit once or twice will mean death no matter what your gear is. At least as a Barb kiting will be slightly more forgiving. :p

Alamar, if you don't have great equipment, a Throwing Barb(I suggest 2h, but if you have a great 1hander you can go that route) is effective in Inferno.

I appreciate the suggestion... I've considered putting some range in my build (maybe even spear with 'rage flip'), but I'm hesitant to put stuff in a build I'm really not going to want around after the one fight...

However, if I can't take him down anyways, I may as well fiddle and get past the fight just so I can get into Act III (I don't expect Belial to be as bad... Breath is the only time I get hit on the post-snake part). And the breath is avoidable (there's a cheeve for it), but I'm not sure how... I've tried the edges, and stuff doesn't seem to come off CD fast enough (haven't tried Leap).

Your build seems to have all damage passives, and I'm not sure I can cope without some bonus armor/reduced damage.. : )

Course, on the other hand... I can kill the giants... Just with a lot of running and quaffing, so some extra damage likely won't make much of a mitigation difference.

Yeah, guaranteeing rares means jack when there's still a really good chance you're going to get a level 54 piece of crap in Inferno... But since the difficulty scale is still so out of whack that I can run Act I easily with the same character getting her ass whooped in mid-Act II, I might do a bit of farming with these new 60+ drop rates to see what I can find.

Alamar, if you don't have great equipment, a Throwing Barb(I suggest 2h, but if you have a great 1hander you can go that route) is effective in Inferno. I am in Inferno Act 2, no AH use at all, with pretty much garbage gear, on my throwing oriented DPS barb. The "Sand Giant" constructs are not worth getting into melee range for more than a few hits. Axe spam, Leap in a bit, Revenge, retreat, throw more axes, etc.

My current Build

To be fair I have yet to attempt Kulle on this barb(only on my WD) and not yet in patch 1.03.

But DPS > Tanking unless you have ridiculous gear, it seems.

2h Leap/Charge(Dreadnaught) with some Groundstomp and Seismic Slam seems doable also, but I am waiting to find a 1000+ Damage 2hander for that.

All that said, I am sure Diablo 3 will be a great game after a few more months of patches.

*EDIT* Typo.

I support these changes... Now if only there were a buff to make more than 1 in 20 rares useful... Annnnnnd go...

Even with the boss drop un-nerf, getting drops from packs is faster, and, for me, much more interesting...

I got to Inferno Kulle on my Barbie last night... Act II was a challenge some of the time... A few groups were nasty... But mostly, Sand Giants, suck... And Kulle has two of them... That hit hard... I took about 5 attempts, and was able to get Kulle down to about 30% before he enraged... I need me some more dps, because I can't imagine stacking enough protection for those giants to not beat the poop out of me...

I think ur tinfoil hat is on a bit too tight...

Also I agree with NIN, D3 should be a world with rules set in stone. You learn the world, then you exploit the world, and it is good. The world being an ever-changing(from week to week practically) place is fucking garbage.

Sorry, the ship has already sailed...this whole "let's tweak the game a million times" got old in WOW, and it's not any more welcome here.

Good changes are always welcome, that's really close minded and petty. The boss thing is just a reversion of a previous nerf but the other changes are great and the drop rates are generous.

I think Blizzard is finally listening to feedback and reason. Between these changes, the Natalya set bonus thing and Bashioks post about having a general new design focus I am really hopeful the game is moving in a good direction finally.
