We had already agreed to play TL2 together so I was surprised yesterday when he asked me to go out and get D3.
What's PoE? Second vote for you to check out PoE. It's a f2p ARPG (not pay to win) So far it is looking great.

You can buy some in-game currency and then get access to the game right now (or hope for an invite.) Or you can just wait until the open beta to check it out (which will also include act 3, the current beta is restricted to Act 1&2. |

Blizzard died a terr-ible death inside me, when they left DiabloII left out to wilt as it did. They could have expanded that game, or made timely sequels 5 times over, instead of this disenchanting greedfest that is now tied into Casino gambling. (Blizzard is a casino house, they program their own machines)
it's sad, I expected D3 to be much much more than what I've seen so far, but I think, if Blizzard is keen on keeping the income steady, then they will have to cater to the masses, will have to replay this game 1 year from now (some 15 patches later), in the mean time, it's shelved. I'll be happy playing on the WiiU SMB instead this christmas. |

Yeah but power can go as quickly as it comes. The utter and complete vitriol directed at Blizzard for this from gamers everywhere speaks volumes. Whatever good faith they had left is quickly eroding and I think it's going to end up costing them in the long run. The days of Blizzard doing no wrong are over.

Oh I know it's still out there, all the news places quoted it and whatnot, but deleting it (and burying hundreds of angry posts, I'm sure) is a desperate PR damage control move that only incriminates them further. It was a locked, stickied one post announcement/information thread from a support guy. It was replaced by a similar thread from a CM. They have three options: edit the original post, add another post in the thread, or create a new thread. The first and third choices are basically the same (the original wording is gone) and the second is confusing. This part of it isn't anything to get worked up about. |

Gah, I just want to enjoy my Blizzard games, let me farm, get cool loot and do silly stuff This level of Serious Business economy balance MMO crap is just a huge bummer. This is worse than WoW since most of the best end-game items are BoP, thus the end-game isn't tightly linked to the game economy. I thought RMAH would bring out the worst in customers, but its seems to be bringing out the worst in Blizz. They got greedy; like I do when I see a treasure goblin and charged head long into a mess of trouble trying beat the last gold coin out of it only to fail from recklessness. |

Small to medium businesses certainly work this way but larger businesses do not. Credit card clearing can be done through intermediatories such as commidea. They will install a clearing box for you and your purchases are processed "in house", no need to purchase insurance or dodgy cards, they are processed quickly and securely (much the same way they would be if you used an ATM machine from an different originating bank). Precisely to avoid issues such as "24 hour clearance" even on "customer not present" transactions.
I highly doubt blizzard pay fees to a 3rd party when they could pay a lump sum and process their own.

This is something retail does in like 3 seconds.
Debit purchases will complete the transaction in a short period of time. Credit purchases simply acquire approval for the purchase and then block out a chunk on your account to be processed sometime in the next 24 hours.
Man, this Diablo III business is a non-stop flow of bad press. And all of it comes from the online requirement. What were the odds? |

No, they're lying through their teeth. The only way those things would be "unintended consequences" is if they just plain forgot that the starter edition had those limitations, which is VERY hard to believe. They thought they were being clever with this new "security measure," being able to keep an account in the kiddy pool before flipping a switch and opening it up to the full shebang later... I'm absolutely sure they didn't think people would mind the level/progress cap, so blinded they are by their own arrogance.
