Darksiders II Preorder Incentives

THQ announces preorder incentives to buy Darksiders II from shopTHQ, where they are offering free upgrades to a limited edition that will entitle players to future DLC for the upcoming action sequel, being sure to note that: "All DLC content packs will ship post launch and are new content not originally intended for the main game." The also say they still have a supply of the collector's edition that's sold out everywhere else.

THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) today announced that all Darksiders® II Limited Edition pre-orders placed via shopTHQ will receive an additional two downloadable content drops as well as an exclusive set of in-game armor and free shipping.

The Darksiders® II Season Pass will entitle customers who pre-order the game via the shopTHQ to download the 2nd and 3rd DLC packs when they become available at no cost. All pre-orders will also automatically be upgraded to the Limited Edition version of the game which includes the first DLC drop, Argul’s Tomb. These DLC packs will include significant new single player content. The first drop, Argul’s Tomb, will become available roughly one month after the game ships.

On top of the DLC content packs users who pre-order via the shopTHQ will also receive a code to unlock the exclusive Maker’s Armor and Scythe set. Featuring upgraded stats and a unique design this will help players make a start on Death’s quest.

Jim Huntley, Vice President of Global Brand Marketing, commented: “We are excited to be able to reward customers who pre-order the game via shopTHQ with this great incentive. Not only will they get a unique armor set at launch, but they will also get significant free content for months to come.”

... but it IS a console game, literally a direct rip-off of zelda.

I don't think "literally a direct rip-off" means what you think it means. Darksiders was inspired by a lot of games, Zelda, Metroid and God of War included. It was not a direct rip-off of any of those games.

It was too much... that?

If you were not playing this game with a gamepad on your PC, you were only cheating yourself and probably making it way harder. If anything button mashing will just get you killed until your guy is fully leveled up.

I thought the first one was fantastic, it could have used more of the trials areas from the first or second area (playing on hard those trials were BRUTAL with very little moves to use, tons of fun). Definitely looking forward to playing the next one, but between the recent habit of games being $20-$30 cheaper after the first month or so... and the ugly habit of them being broken and unplayable at launch... there's no way pre-orders are ever gonna be worth it any time soon.

The last thing I care about is promised DLC. Remember Rage? Yeah.

I bought and played some of the first Darksiders, and I just couldn't get into it. It felt too "consoly" to me: gameplay too simple and too button-mashy and too God-of-War.

It definitely felt like a port, but it was a fairly solid one.

No amount of incentives will ever get me to pre-order a game. There's no reason to, since there are infinite digital versions available instantly from the word go, and no way of predicting if a game that should be good will instead turn out to be a bug-ridden disaster. I'm interested in Darksiders 2, but it's a wait and see for sure.

Well, I was invited to get in on a Torchlight 2 4-pack, but $15 is a much smaller risk than $60.
