Diablo III 1.0.3 Skill Changes Found?

IncGamers has a list of skill changes the say should be part of the upcoming version 1.0.3 patch for Diablo III. They say these were mined from patch data found on Blizzard's servers, so this may still be subject to change. In some cases it is not actually the skill being changed, but simply the tooltip being updated to accurately reflect the skill. In other news related to the action/RPG sequel, the Diablo III Website features the recent Diablo III Developer "AMAA" Transcript.

IPA doesn't slap... it caresses your face.
Then when you can't feel your face it might slap you but I don't remember.

Progress is progress, sir. Kudos.

I remember when I first started Inferno Act 1 solo and I wondered how I would even get to the Leoric. Now I'm attempting Act2 Boss (avoiding Spoilers), sans RMAH (for now). Got him to about 25% in final phase but his breath got me about the same time the 10% Double India Pale Ale slapped me in the face.....that's my excuse.

This 1.03 patch should be hilarious. Nerf Inferno, but then nerf the affixs people have been using to remotely succeed in inferno.

In other news I finally got to act 3 Inferno after spending 10 million (and still wasnt able to replace all of my crap items). Since so many said act 3 is so much easier than act 2, I was really happy to have the worst behind me. Only to die 20 times on my first few steps in act 3. "Most annoying mobs are in act 2" my ass. These fucking flying suckers that shoot fireballs and kill in one hit up close and the fallen that get resurrected right beside me only to kill my 550 resistance ass in 2 hits are the most annoying things Ive ever encountered. I really cant imagine how much I will hate this game once I get to the centipede arm guys... (yeah yeah, Im bad with names).

FWIW, Congrats on making it to Act 3 Inferno. Gonna attempt tackling Zoltun Khuul's tower tonight. Later on, not looking forward to the first stage of the Act2 boss with his adds....that should be a disaster.

Worked the first try for me, since I was lucky to have a good tank in my group, and enough DPS to kill them very quickly. After that it was a breeze.

Completed the first 2 quests in act 3 now too (again, thanks to a good tank), but as soon as we entered the dungeons it was GG on the first elite pack (after 5 secs), because there was no way we could skip them, because after them there was another very bad combo one. Especially in these tight quarters I wonder how I will ever complete it, because elite packs were extremely hard with lots of space already, some still impossible.

Why is it so hard for them to update tooltips? That should be a 5 minute thing, that could be patched day 1.

These updates are server side only which negates the need to update the client. In theory this means less updates for the consumer. The issue is to update a tooltip the client needs to also be updated.
Yes BUT, they've done client side updates for the game previously. They could have tossed that in there. It shoulda been in the first patch, its a text fix that shouldn't require more than 5 mins of coding.

Resistance will give you let's say 50% damage reduction. Then if you want a comparable vitality item, you want that item to give you double the vitality. Not 5%.

Uh, your math is a bit off there. Effective HP is a little more complicated than that. The more resistance you have, the more EHP each point of vitality gives you. The more vitality you have, the more EHP each point of resistance gives you.

You can't really take a piece of gear and make the resistance or vitality equal, because it depends on what other gear the person has. If I have a ton of resistances and crap vitality, then a cheap vitality piece is going to blow away even a strong resistance piece.

Nerfing resistance to bring it back down to the lowest common denominator will only increase the difficulty of inferno. At some point no one will be able to play it.

Then again, Blizzard loves for people to bitch so I think their grand master plan is to make it so that no one can play Inferno to the end. Slowly they're turning the screw of the vise on our private parts, boys and girls.

Even that nerf changed nothing about the fact that some items are absolutely worthless without IAS, because IAS is still the most powerful stat, that everyone wants.

A huge buff to some stats wouldnt do much bad, because of the insane difficulty (or rather insanity) of Inferno.

Sounds awesome, a game where you repeatedly throw yourself head long against ridiculous challenges after spending many hours grinding items or money (or spending real cash) to get to the point where you may stand a chance... Mebbe...

No wonder they've got a RMAH, they make the game virtually impossible to finish without uber gear then take a cut of anything that changes hands...

It's like a hamster wheel where the hamster poops gold and actually wants to run forever. Breaks my brain, particularly since there have been more than a few games coming out lately where I'm paying for the privilege of being bored or frustrated.

Is this the patch that fixes the minimap by either making it fully transparent *instead of like 90%*, or gives us the ability to change the size?

I'm not sure which would be more cruel to say to you - that it won't happen, or that yes, they're doing it...on blizzard time. :)

Or to stop bitching about really petty things when there are much larger issues that need to be dealt with.

What's "IAS"?

edit: increased attack speed modifier

TBF it was absurdly OP compared to other buffs, though so much so that it really should have made it to release. Also, they might want to consider if they need to counteract nerfs by buffing other, uh, buffs.

Their own fault. It's a game where to kill things and few things are more valuable than how fast you attack. They should have made other item values more valuable to players. I think it was Dev or Verno who pointed out that lightning used to stun monsters in Diablo II as an example. Your classes main stat just feeds your DPS and perhaps a second modifier like dodge, people don't really have anything else to desire or stack on an item so of course they went with IAS.

The IAS nerf seems pretty extreme. At the high end you're losing 10% IAS per item, which could easily result in a loss of thousands of DPS.

It can be a bit annoying and confusing, but it's better development practice than rolling out an actual patch requiring downtime and a client restart every time you need to hotfix something.

Do they not put this info in release notes for the hotfix?

They supposedly put ongoing hotfixes in a blog post on their site after they got some flak for doing ninja hotfixes which got a bunch of peoples hardcore characters killed. How complete that list is, that's anyone's guess.

I'm actually hoping they do this, just so you can stop posting about it in every single thread where D3 is even mentioned.
