Out of the Blue

A glance at our shopping cart at the big box store today made me laugh at myself. If the pile of chicken breasts and ground beef didn't reveal my outdoor cooking predilections, the two packs of large bottles of mustard, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce would probably be a tip-off. But barring that, the 72 pounds of lump charcoal would be the dead giveaway. I should keep track of how much of that stuff I manage to go through in a summer.

I will say the autosurgeon scene on an imax screen in 3d had the entire theater making awkward, uncomfortable poses as it went on... :)

Recalling Quake 4 SP conversion moments...not sure if I shuddered then but I damn well wanted to.

It was almost like he went out of his way to try and top the classic chestburster scene, wasn't it?

Certain phenomena in quantum mechanics, such as quantum entanglement, appear to transmit information faster than light. According to the no-communication theorem these phenomena do not allow true communication; they only let two observers in different locations see the same event simultaneously, without any way of controlling what either sees. Wavefunction collapse can be viewed as an epiphenomenon of quantum decoherence, which in turn is nothing more than an effect of the underlying local time evolution of the wavefunction of a system and all of its environment. Since the underlying behaviour doesn't violate local causality or allow FTL it follows that neither does the additional effect of wavefunction collapse, whether real or apparent.
Go forth, and kill!

I just tried my first beer can chicken today. Tasty. I would put it right up there with a deep fried turkey. Very moist and delicious.

The best part was telling people the recipe.

Take a whole chicken, apply a seasoning rub, then shove a can of beer up its butt. Grill.

I thought Prometheus was excellent. Ups the ante on Aliens "sci-fi-action-horror" genre...some great twists in the story arc too, visually absolutely stunning.

I saw it this afternoon. Kinda mixed feelings. It wasn't a bad movie, I'm just not sure it's what I was hoping...

I got my first smoker two weeks ago and smoked my first pulled pork following the recipe on amazingribs.com on Monday (holiday here in the uk). 6 out of the 8 of us preferred the non-smoked version from Here

Crucial difference seemed to be recooking it after it was pulled in the juices. Monday's was an amazing tasting pork dish which was 90% pork - my normal one seems to be again amazing but for tasting of the spices not just pork.

Think you're officially a coal mine, after 70 lbs!
The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.
