I'm mildly concerned the Arma 3 setting won't work as well for DayZ. So I guess we'll need Cherarus ported over, which probably wont be too hard to do.

Have you even played with the latest beta's let alone 1.6 patch?

The change/fix list is staggering and probably 50+ fixes they don't list.

Right as the game sales skyrocket... What a coincidence isn't it.
http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php That's two years worth of beta patches released at least weekly.

The official bug tracker has been active since 2009 with steady contributions by the devs since then. https://dev-heaven.net/projects/cis

There's no correlation between sales sky rocketing and bugs suddenly being fixed.

heh or well, that's just how it goes with Alpha MODS. Remember Desert Combat for bf1942? When it started off, the only thing diff was the vehicles....everything else was still 1942.

So ArmA 3 will not be like the other releases. They have learned their lesson.

So if you're wrong we'll know who to blame, right?

This game is number 1 on my want list. But like all ARMA games you would be well advised to wait for at least 2 patches in before getting.

You and all others are WRONG. ArmA 3 is the same engine as ArmA 2 (with some bolted on things like physics and ragdoll). BIS has been furiously patching ArmA 2. Go to their forum and get the latest patch and then get the beta patches. New things like graphics (FXAA,SMAA), memory optimizers, joystick throttle fixes, AI fixes, etc...

Hell, sometimes they come out with 2 or more patches a day.

See the logic??? Patch ArmA 2, use community as beta testers, roll fixes into ArmA 3.

So ArmA 3 will not be like the other releases. They have learned their lesson.

More like at least 4 patches but that will take them over a year to release.
ArmA 3's release might be different. There has been active beta testing by the community for over 2 years. http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

All those fixes and changes are likely rolled into the ArmA 3 automatically. Their engine releases are always evolutionary. If ArmA 2 is stable right now (which it is, rock solid) then 3 will be stable at release.

What I find laughable is how the latest E3 videos sell the "day night cycle present in the engine". Yeah, that's been present since 2001. Really nothing new. It's hard for me to believe people are still "discovering" this game considering the engine has been out there for 11 years.

I use this program called Armarize that has a server browser in it and will basically autolaunch any addon needed for the server you're trying to connect. obviously you have to have downloaded said addons first. Also it has an auto update feature too. Maybe that will help.

I'd love to play Arma 2 MP, but every time I try each server is running a different and large list of mods/addons that I don't have. I'd like to be able to play pure vanilla Arma 2 (plus the official expansions) MP.

And it'll probably be several years before my computer will be able to run it properly. ARMA 2 was a beast in terms of system requirements. I won't believe their posted requirements for a second.
It was certainly demanding when it first launched but it scaled well with newer hardware, unlike other demanding games like Crysis. I can run it maxed out at 2560x1600 and it doesn't look like Arma 3 is going to be a huge jump in terms of system requirements.

That said, I found the game itself to be very poor. The difficulty was spiky, the movement was awkward, the dialogue simply appalling, the game was buggy, the mission structure / scripting intrusive and long-winded and - most importantly - I didn't find it at all enjoyable to play. On paper it looks like a good game but the reality was a huge disappointment.

Even before DayZ came out it was a friggin hassle, using 6 updater. Now with Arma have 2 add-on packs, FREE TO PLAY, ACE mods and now Dayz Im unable to play online at all, its impossible to untangle the various shit people are running. Which is a SHAME bcus MP in a team or squad was extremely awesome.

Not a long interview and it looks like the creator of Day Z already works for them:

GON: The success of the Day Z mod recently can't have escaped your attention at Bohemia - especially considering it's been developed by Dean Hall who works for you! How does Bohemia feel about seeing ArmA II skyrocket again in popularity?

Jay: Itís fantastic to work with Dean, and it's a vindication of the efforts made internally to support modding, even when sometimes it can make life a little more complex! It's also a massive validation of what open worlds can achieve, and what players can do if provided with a simple set of elegantly designed rules.

Ivan: It is certainly big proof that our approach towards community may eventually pay off. I am particularly happy with the new people being attracted to our game, and appreciate the depth of the simulation and effort we keep investing to create unique games environments.

Given what Day Z has been doing for them in terms of sales they'd be nuts not to bring those guys on board and give them the proper resources they need to develop a solid version for A3.

I need to read the intereview, but have to hit the road and read it later. Anyway, it will be interesting to see if they implement DayZ into ARMA 3, or dangle the carrot of it being in a DLC not too long after release of ARMA 3. I say that because the sales of ARMA 2 have obviously skyrocketed, which could hurt the sales of ARMA 3 on release day.
