dont forget the american volunteer group (AKA the flying tigers) who became part of the chinese air force. they helped keep the burma road open for china. china was not democratic before the war. they certainly did not convert after.

Seriously? WTF was World War 2 about? If that wasn't a fight for democracy I don't know what is.

While I agree with pretty much everything you said, WW2 had absolutely nothing to do with "Democracy". Japan was already at war with China, Germany invaded Poland in 1939. NOTHING TO DO WITH DEMOCRACY! Hitler just wanted to wipe out Poland and everyone in it and take the land for himself.

Aside from lending some troops as assistance to the Brits, the US did not officially enter the war until 1941 when Japan declared war on the US and attacked Pearl Harbour. Again, nothing to do with Democracy.

Since WW2, the US have invested heavily into their military and using that strength to force their own political agenda (democracy conversion) upon other countries (ie: Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, etc).

If only not voting fixed everything. 40-50% of the American populace put in a vote of 'no confidence' every 4 years. And what is it now, 11% approval rating for congress?

We're winning! Wait...

That's always been the purview and major problem of the right-wing. They never let reality stand in the way of their convictions.

That's a misrepresentation. Knowing the facts of America's history, both the good and the bad, does not lead to a singular conclusion. There will be varied interpretations of the same set of facts given the prism through which they are viewed. That's as true with the "blame America first" crowd as it is with the "America, fuck Yeah!!" crowd. Right wingers definitley don't have a corner on the market when it comes to spin and rhetoric by any stretch of the imagination.

Not singular, but a measurable and consistent pattern that has been established which supports the thesis that America is not only not a force for democracy but actively works against it for the most part. That's a fact. Even the phrase 'Blame America first crowd' is something the right-wing utilizes constantly so they can ignore the facts. It only supports what I'm saying. I never said that the left doesn't utilize spin and rhetoric either but that's not what we were talking about and it certainly doesn't change the evidence.

Yes U.S.A has some issues I wont deny it, and yes our government likes to do its own thing. But to say the U.S isn't and never was about Democracy is complete bullshit.

Hum looks like I agreed with you to an extent but keep changing my words to make you look good its cool with me.If you choose to call that an ignore go for it.

No so. Illum is upset because of people knocking on the US in regard to their foreign policy. It's not like these facts don't exist are only available to a select few. He chooses to ignore them because they don't jibe with his view and he would be forced to adjust to a reality he doesn't like so it's easier for him to simply deny all of it. That's always been the purview and major problem of the right-wing. They never let reality stand in the way of their convictions.

He's not wrong in his statement... The U.S. goes to war when its interests are at stake. In WW2 our ally Britain was getting pounded. And don't forget it took Japan to attack us for us to officially enter the war. The extent of the holocaust was unknown (especially by the American public) so that was hardly a reason for entering.

It's pretty clear from historical sources (e.g. the presidential campaigns, congressional records) that the Civil War wasn't fought to end slavery, although it did in the end. The South started the war to preserve slavery, but the North fought to stop them from seceding.

Re: WW2, Russia and China did most of the fighting and dying, and obviously they weren't fighting for democracy.
