Except a deterrent only works if you plan to use it at some point... so nuclear weapons are a really bad deterrent against few (but precise) conventional strikes.
Fact is though that Iran would probably respond with never ending guerilla warfare should Israel actually strike anything via air bombardments. It might even come to state-sponsored piracy again that only targets shipments to and from Israel. The worlds military doesn't have enough ships to protect every convoy, and a single modern skimmer with a torpedo could take down everything that swims (civilian wise) |

The Arab Spring is far from small, but will still pale in comparison to what is coming. if mass rebellion actually happens, anonymous and similar groups will have to take point on that
otherwise it just wont work... govt has way too many military resources to throw at the people
on a side note, there is a new tv show about some time travelling cop chick.. the background story is that at some point in the future, the govts go bankrupt and cant pay their debts, so all the huge corps (like apple) get together and then provide a "bailout" scenario ... which results in a "coporate council" in which the governing body is actually made of corporations.. broad ideas from neuromancer et al, fleshed out with modern data |

Questions about this are on everyones mind. All of today I talked to people at work who shared similar sentiment to what I'm hearing from people commenting about this all over the USA.
What prevents this from being considered an act of war?
I mean.. with damage being done to vital nuclear research/development infrastructure, and oil wells being targeted as well. Physical damage is occurring as a result of these attacks. Will it not be defined an act of war until someone dies as a result of one of these weapons?
It'll be interesting to see how the next few months turn out with the election drumming up. My guess is that you will not hear any mention of this in any forum created for presidential debate or campaigning, yet it is policies like these that are truly defining the USA in the post-9/11 century we are embarking upon.

Yup, the genie is out of the bottle, it's futile to try and put it back. Sooner or later, regardless of what they do, Iran will acquire a nuke. IMO I dont think there's a threat of Iran using it when they get it, after all the people at the top desire power and using a nuke will guarantee they lose power... it'll just be a trophy for them to parade around. |

But I get what you were going for.
I'm sure China has its own program to launch viruses against any number of targets and has probably done so in the past and will do so in the future. Viruses aren't exactly a western exclusive.

| They've already deconstructed much of it and I recall stories in the last two months about it pointing to Israel. Not mention it's based on a book that deconstructs a majority of the NSA operation, started under bush. |

Until it's picked up and there's an actual "indepth study" by say oh cryptome or someone else, that's about as far as I trust that article. The Star is a step above rag. The NYT, on the other hand, does have something of a history of breaking big stories that are spot on. This is the sort of shit that's par for the course for the US and Israel. I used to work with a lot of ex-Mossad guys and the stories they'd tell. Oi vey! |
