Korean FTC Raids Blizzard Over Diablo 3

The Korean Fair Trade Commission raided Blizzard's Seoul office on Monday after receiving complaints from gamers who were refused refunds over inability to play Diablo 3 during server outages surrounding the launch of the action/RPG sequel, reports the Korea Times. "We have received many complaints from Diablo 3 users," a spokesman for the FTC told the paper, though he reportedly refused to elaborate beyond admitting that Blizzard is under investigation. This doesn't sound like the outcome will live up to how dramatic this all sounds, as while the report says authorities "secured related documents and other evidence with which it will determine whether Blizzard broke the law," the potential outcome is apparently simple refunds, as the paper says: "It’s too early to see any results of the probe but some investigators expect the regulator to issue an order mandating Blizzard to provide a full refund to all unhappy customers." That's what it takes with a company of that financial magnitude that thinks it can step all over people. They went to Blizzard's offices, got the proof that they mishandled the launch, something which is against Korean Law, you see they there believe in getting everything that was advertised when you pay for a good or service, and now will force Blizzard to provide refunds against people who have legitimate complaints. How is this a ridiculous response in any sense? This is what should be happening more around the world to be honest.

LoL, I doubt people have even heard of Diablo in Noth Korea and somehow if they have Im pretty sure that they dont give a flying fuck. They have their own IRL Diablo that is much scarier than our feminized iteration of the Lord of Terror.

As for South Korea, raid sounds much cooler than. "Erm we rang their doorbell and presented them with a court order to refund unsatisfied gamers".

Gaming is big in S. Korea, and big = politics.

"Raid" is such a sensationalist term for what is a pretty routine legal action. It's not really a "Raid" unless property is destroyed and /or people are beaten or shot. Maybe in North Korea...

Interesting, I'm going to have to see if I can get my BiL to give me a scan/translation of their license contract. I know in the NA version it says that you can get a refund within 30 days.
