repeat after me, logging out in town does not work. You always start at your last checkpoint.
your fault.

My friend's Launcher decided the game was up to date. His game didn't. He couldn't play. Minutes later, his launcher decided to completely reinstall/download Diablo 3 on another partition. After that, his game decided that his Hardcore character was DEAD!!!
I logged out together with him, in town. Trust me when I say his char shouldn't be dead. We both posted a ticket. Pray for us that we won't get a patronizing and apathetic "you've been warned before you started Hardcore mode" reply from Blizzard. He's the victim here. We both are since we only play together.
Fuck.
Blizzard is responsible for the security of their own service. Yet people - like nin - twist the situation and blame the end user,
xXBatmanXx wrote on May 30, 2012, 00:45:It's pretty hard to believe such an inference was merely a coincidence. Also, why would I need to pretend it was my brother's issue if it was actually mine? I have nothing to gain from such a bizarre ruse. Good grief, I've entered the twilight zone where everybody seems to have departed any semblance of rationality or objectivity. I mean, just look at some of the bizarre conspiracy theories here - my brother managed to acquire Blizzard specific malware, that can bypass anti-virus software, from a porn site (an allegation which of itself is pure conjecture)? People are going out of their way to blame the victim and coming up with ever more elaborate scenarios to account for it.
Wasn't posting at or about you or your said brother - but if you want my attention, let me know, there are more than enough points to make about your situation - er I mean your brother's situation - but nin took a pretty good chunk of it already.

Well when it does, I won't be blaming blizzard for it!
Zactly. The problem is we live in a society of people who always think they are the victim instead of the problem. Even when you show them they are the problem with facts and data, they will scream and kick that it is someone else's fault that they are an idiot.
Everyone thinks they are a snowflake.

Awesome going...
Right now I am thinking about getting a refund.
Yeah... Good luck with that......
Maybe I should get a refund on The Witcher 2 on Steam due to that clusterfuck with 8gb Patches when it first came out...
Oh wait... you cant....
If you purchased the game, you can get it refunded as long as the receipt shows the purchase date in the last 30 days at the time a refund is requested. If the game was added to your account via the World of Warcraft Annual Pass there's nothing that can be refunded as it was never purchased.
For more information, please contact our Billing Department.
Billing representatives are on hand to take your call between 7am to 8pm Pacific Time, 7 days a week at 1-800-59-BLIZZARD (1-800-592-5499). Customers in Australia should call 1-800-041-378

lol speaking of know it alls....most of you are, at best, AT BEST trolls.
I can't speak for that other guy, but I sure as fuck know how to do more than press the av scanner button.
Myself, while I can not say for sure...I'm not just suggesting blizzard has a security hole, I'm suspecting something much worse. This amount of paranoia is not normal. I could sit here and run down the lists of shit I do for security, but honestly none of you are worth it and it's pointless anyway(my e-penis knows its size, it needs not brag). My issue was (basically) resolved long ago. This is now just PR and somewhat off-topic.

How dare people expect to play the game without having their account stripped! Blame the victim. Blame the victim. Blame the victim. So you've been raped? Should have carried pepper spray!!! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Stupid woman! MUAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! How dare you pretend to be a victim! Bend over. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

I guess I missed the part where Blue's News became the official Blizzard fansite. Did I miss out on the secret handshake too?

Not meaning any harm, but the ole my e-peen is so big I don't even need to talk about it shtick. Can't believe you blessed us with any reply, you are just so much better then that.
Not telling you was a favor actually.....unless your ignorance would like to hear it all, again? Get over yourself.

We'll see, you won't know until it happens. Always easy to talk about what you would do when it happens to another. Shit, I'd call that line of thinking the True American Way.
Actually the way YOU are treating it is the stereotypical "American Way" mentality. nin is actually taking responsibility for his actions...you know...how America USED TO BE. And how MOST of us in here were taught....

Well you could still blame Blizzard for making something so attractive to hackers. No one is desperately trying hack my Tiny Tower account.
