I think you're an odd one. What, exactly, did Microsoft do to "manipulate" that Sony didn't do?

You be right on the first part.
I make comments here for my entertainment, not to change anyone's mind on anything, so no need to go back and forth.
It's not that important anymore to me anymore, everyone seems to lay down now, so I just need to lose the edginess from years past when it used to.

Whatever. I just don't see how Microsoft is "manipulative" and Sony isn't. These are just companies, and like most companies they're not as smart as people think they are. They don't have the agendas and coordination everyone gives them credit for.

What Microsoft delivered was an online platform that was smooth, stable, had good social aspects and didn't let thieves take your credit card. Sony failed on all those parts at launch and never recovered.

Ahh, the good old "Wait, what actual reasons do you have for thinking/saying that" followed by "I don't have the time or inclination to explain to you for the following reason"

Good times.

Don't worry, everyone who is reasonable agrees with you. I applaud this concept (just like preloading on Steam) but it still isn't enough for me to consider PSN to be even as good as XBL, much less better than. PSN is definitely catching up, but is still behind. I'm a Sony-hater but have never had a problem giving them credit when it's due.

I'm just realistic about it.

PSN has gotten better, though if I recall the PS3 versions of CoD have been full of cheats while the Xbox versions have been pretty light on them.
But the PS3 interface still reminds me of an idiotic featurephone (they have a better set up store, and the new Xbox dashboard is a good idea badly organized, but still better), and I hate the controller, too, haha.

Don't worry, when Microsoft charges $10 extra month for the 'service' allowing you to download it and telling you how honored you should be they allow you to pay, then xbox fans will be all over it.

It's a shame SONY did so many things "right" in not trying to manipulate people or charge for everything, that it worked against them. Young people respond well to manipulation, Microsoft proves it almost daily.

Sony did very little right.

Yep, they didn't win the fan boys.
All the winners are on XBOX, losers on PSN. XBOX FTW

I think Microsoft manipulates you far beyond anything you'll ever recognize.

Yep, they didn't win the fan boys and they ouldn't compete with MS putting tools in devs hands. All the winners are on XBOX, losers on PSN. XBOX FTW

Sony did very little right. PSN is pretty poor. It didn't do half of what MSFT did well, at $4 per month ($50 for a 12 month card most places) and it worked. Worked well. Didn't give out your data.

Sony is a bit better about digital distribution but, given their paltry HDD sizes, MSFT didn't put much effort into it. It's a shame and only an idiot would buy digital from them, but that's one knock against what's been a vastly superior service.

Microsoft: You can't play the game digitally till 6 months after it is physically released. Also, you'll play full Release Day Price. This whole digital thing is really annoying and we don't like doing it.

Sony: You want to play a game and give us money for it? Here. Fucking have it! We'll even allow you to download it beforehand so you don't have to wait on release. We love technology!

(I know this isn't the exact scenario as I'm sure Sony will only do this for PSN only titles possibly, but still. Fuck Microsoft.)
