Ubisoft Financials

Gamasutra has details on Ubisoft's full-year financial reporting, where they show $47.7 million in profits, an improvement over last year's loss of $73 million, attributing this in part to a "leap" in digital and online sales. Word is: "578 million ($739 million) of Ubisoft's annual revenues came from core titles like Assassin's Creed: Revelations and the aforementioned The Settlers Online, while 483 million ($618 million) was attributed to casual titles like the company's popular Just Dance series and Rocksmith."

They made their profits by not providing any support for their products, which is why I don't buy their shit.

Yeah, you can add always-on DRM for a single player-only game to that too, but that would have been easier to take had the last 2 products I bought from them weren't bug-fests with missing and broken features and had more support than a token one-time patch that fixed little.

Hey Ubisoft, you should start making better sales now because apparently after all the bitching and moaning it really is ok to have online DRM. Well, at least where D3 is concerned. But that doesn't make anyone a hypocrite, does it?

Two thumbs up.

"Nobody wants to be nobody in America. Ed is the apotheosis of a prevailing American syndrome. It used to be that someone became famous because they were special. Now people are considered special just for being famous. Fame, itself, is its own virtue.
