Amusing anecdote to share. On the way to a restaurant at lunch, the host on a talk radio show was bitching about how the sound engineers and tech staff all decided to take today off. He seemed totally clueless as to why.
Enough people are saying thatit's been fixedthey never had that problem that I'm not too worried about it.

The game launched 18hrs ago in the UK and the servers are still too busy to connect to. Blizzard really screwed the pooch with this one. Very unimpressed.

Any news on how this plays on less-than-stellar connections? And does it actually install on Win7-64? (Since the demo wouldn't?)
Creston
Yeah, Creston, is there perhaps something else about your system build that might have played a part in that? I have two systems running Win 7 64bit, one with an older Radeon card and one with a newer Nvidia card, and neither had problems installing or playing the beta. Not saying D3 might not have a problem with the installer..I am just very certain it isn't Win 7 64 bit that is the determining factor.
My cable internet connection had occasional rubber-banding, so a 'less then stellar' internet connection can probably expect the same. Didn't seem to have much to do with what was going on in the game. Got it in-town or in-combat...a few enemies or a few dozen enemies. Just a result of the system. Be interesting to see if they improve that somehow. I wouldn't know how or if they can.
Not even close. According to Eurogamer, D3 has 2 million pre-orders, which in itself is quite spectacular, but it's nowhere close to Call of Duty which usually has something like 6-7 million pre-orders every year.

edit: heh, feel the wrath on metacritic.

Either way apparently this is the most pre-ordered game ever, enough to crush past console exclusive pre-orders that drew millions too.

It's not open for at least a week
theyarecomingforyou wrote on May 15, 2012, 12:21:Cheers for posting that, I nearly broke and paid the exorbitant £45 to buy from Blizzard but F that if it's still difficult logging in anyway. edit: heh, feel the wrath on metacritic.

Now now Blizzard, don't sell yourselves short. It's only been like a dozen!

theyarecomingforyou wrote on May 15, 2012, 12:21:Yep. I was able to log in immediately after work, but the gameplay was laggy and wonky.. Then, presumably as more people got home from work/school, I suddenly started getting friggin' pop-up boxes with "The request has timed out!" while I was playing.. I.e. a big error box with an OK button that would pop up constantly. I tried relogging which was a bad idea, because now it's impossible to log back in. Very smooth launch Blizzard, very smooth indeed.
