Binary Domain Demo

The Binary Domain Page on Steam has a playable demo for this squad-based shooter that was actually released a couple of weeks ago (thanks to Frans for rescuing this from falling through the cracks). Here's an overview of the game: "Set in 2080, the story starts when Dan Marshall and his squad are sent to bring the robotic community under control as they begin to infiltrate society and slowly take over undetected, leaving humans redundant in their wake. Thrilling encounters with highly intelligent robotic enemies require you to think tactically, make challenging, real-time moral decisions and build up trust with your team mates in order to guide your squad to safety and success."

I feel the exact same way. I always stop reading when I see "third person shooter". Other genres are fine that way, but not a shooter.

I never really understood this. The controls, aiming, shooting are exactly the same as a FPS but you get to see your character and any any cool armor/weapons/effects ect. Do you not like part of your screen being blocked? Do you like the smaller FOV? Or, just miss the sort of immersion aspect of full FPS.

PS The lorcin home-brewery is now producing some seriously good quality Ale for about 1/5 of the shop prices - I can't brew much until the Autumn but expect some seriously incoherent ramblings then.

edit: Oh, and TB said the tutorial was an hour long and was easily the most boring part of the game. So if you do buy it (god help you), expect to play more than an hour before things get interesting.

Played a few minutes of the demo so far just to have an extremely quick look, seems like the basic third person shooter deal (nothing wrong with that!). Shooting the robot enemies was rather cool, reminded me of Terminator actually - must have been the red eyes.

The menu system is shocking, definitely a bad port as who the fudge cake uses space bar instead of enter?

Have to agree on that one, while the game is tolerable on console (although even console version isn't worth full price !) the PC version is a textbook example of why "console port" can be such a curse amongst PC gamers.
