Portal 2 Test Results

Valve announces a Steam Workshop sale in celebration of the success of the Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative:

Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the early findings of the Portal 2 Perpetual Testing Initiative.

Released just days ago, The "Perpetual Testing Initiative" has already resulted in the creation and publishing of over 35,000 user-created maps, collectively consumed via more than 1.3 million downloads.

To celebrate the launch, Steam is holding a Weekend Workshop Sale offering Portal 2 for 66% off, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for 33% off, and many of this year's Team Fortress 2 Workshop Items available for 50% off their regular price.

The Perpetual Testing Initiative allows players to easily create, share, and play Portal 2 puzzles. The Initiative comes with a simplified Puzzle Maker that allows that creation of mind-bending puzzles without ever leaving the game.

The Puzzle Maker directly publishes maps to the Steam Workshop where users may browse, vote on, and select to play them. Selected puzzles are automatically downloaded and installed inside Portal 2.

The Angry Tests were pretty good. A little harder than original Portal 2 maps but not nearly as hard as many of the custom maps for Portal 1. Also, these maps were made with Hammer, not the level creator DLC, so I wouldn't expect most maps to be as elaborate.

35000 free maps, EA would make over 8000 DLCs to sell with those :/ Quick, someone tell Valve what they're doing is wrong and hurting the game industry!

Played all but two of the 12 Angry Puzzles collection last night... Great stuff, but I don't think those particular levels were made with the new editor.

Sweet - was looking forward to it - just downloaded it and going to play tonight.

Yeah it's pretty obvious when you check it out, but 12 Angry Tests is a great place to start. And yep, straight from the creator, it was made with the Hammer editor rather than the new in-game editor. It's pretty darn polished. I look forward to checking out more once I complete it.

I haven't tried it yet either...maybe this weekend but I'm addicted to wargame: EE even though I suck so bad. All the CoH2 news has me wanting to play CoH again too.
