For the longest time I refused to play into the cell phone companies hands. That $30/mo data plan required bullshit was only tacked on when smartphones started including wi-fi antennas, which allowed users to bypass the carrier. And don't even get me started on the scam that PTT is. Now that they've got everyone in their pocket, notice how the screws have tightened? I was without a smartphone for a loooong time. Then I did some research and looked into Virgin Mobile.
My Android smartphone cost me $125; no contract...I can upgrade anytime I feel like it. And for $45/mo, I get 1200 minutes, free texting, free 3G internet, etc, etc. And since Virgin Mobile rides Sprint's backbone, I get great coverage.
And yes, I sound like a shill, and I would be one if Virgin Mobile payed me, that's how happy I am with their service. I just point and laugh at others who are still paying $90+/mo the same service. |
