On PC Black Ops II

PC Gamer grills Mark Lamia about Call of Duty: Black Ops II, asking the studio head at Treyarch about the just-revealed first-person shooter sequel, focusing on questions about the PC edition. This doesn't yield a lot of concrete answers, as he effectively dodges the question about dedicated servers, saying "we havenít yet announced exactly what that setup is going to be." He does speak of how this uncertainty related to cheat prevention, and how their aggressive development cycle does not include time for beta testing, but also defers questions about LAN support, though he does speak of eSports support, which would obviously benefit from things like LAN support and dedicated servers.

The first Black Ops was okay, but I had to wait for a few patches before it actually ran on my machine and the sound worked. Probably not going to get this one until it's on a free weekend like MW3 was, and then just play the single player.

I was sad to see more robots and stuff in this, as COD has slowly been moving away from actually using skill to shoot someone to just putting down things or activating things that kill people for you.

Yeah, but it takes skill to get those things. In MW3 you need 5 linked kills to get a predator missile. If you can't link then 14 unlinked can get you a stealth bomber, if you choose.
But the most skilled players go for specialist, which slowly unlocks all the perks/proficiencies for you, so at 8 linked kills you're basically a killing machine. You don't get that 1 kill boost of a missile, 2-4 of a helicopter or even more of some of the higher perks, but if you know what you're doing all of those perks combined will make you far more deadly. If not for specialist I likely would have gotten bored in the game very quickly.

It's more of that douchebag Robert '402' Bowling (lying sack of shit) all over again.

They got a new monkey!!!!

Different developer. Bowling was Infinity Ward.

In any case, I don't think this is lying, I think this is not knowing. They want to do things but don't know that they'll have time.

What's more likely - that they're lying about PC stuff or that they have good intentions but it's such a low priority that they are unsure they'll manage to do any of those good intentions?

Same ol shit. More lies, dodging of questions, half-answers to questions that only create more questions. They know the answers, of course they do this far into development with only months to go. It's more of that douchebag Robert '402' Bowling (lying sack of shit) all over again.

I am DONE with Call of Duty. Might as well make it a 100% console game, that's all they give a shit about anyways. Fuck you Activision, and Kotich too. Greedy SOB's

No point. The single player is nearly worthless, and the multiplayer is a ton of fun on consoles where it has an enormous community and a good amount of depth (though I think the depth is disappearing as inbalance issues are becoming more obvious over time.) By the time it's $5 bargain bin on PC it will have no community and no value at all.

After the debacle that was the PC launch of COD-BLOPS, where thousands couldn't even start the game until the patch that came 2 months later, nothing would surprise me.

The only way I am ever buying a COD game again is when it's in the $5.00 bin, and even then under protest.

Lies on top of more lies. You can discern most of them through the interview. No love was put into making these (and other COD) games. They need to die.

Holy shit, the same non-answers, the same bullshit as always. Another glorified map pack with a different setting that will end up playing exactly the same as past titles.
