Depends on your tolerance for button-mashing-based combat. Monster combat is definitely a step down from Risen and G1/2. It's almost as bad as G3's. Human combat fares better. Everything else is pretty much what you'd expect from a PB game, so if you liked Risen/G1/G2, you'll probably like Risen 2. |

Tried the demo - not bad. Not great, but I could easily see catching it on sale. Steam boards point out you can get it for $30, but I've got so much shit to play right now, I'll wait for a later sale.

| I gave it (Sniper Elite V2) a whirl based on a recommendation here. It's rather clunky like the original and the AI is incredibly poor. The games stealth system is almost nonexistent and every fight turns into a shoot out. Hilariously you put all this work into lining up extreme range shots but the AI returns fire with an MP40 from 600M away and still hits you. They did a mediocre job with level design at best, it feels like the entire level is populated only by the soldiers you face with little ambiance. Worst of all there is little flanking or alternate routes, its basically just run straight mash fire button. It's basically just a sniper porn game with few redeeming qualities. The locational damage camera is slightly amusing for a few shots but grows old quickly. |

I ignored this one, until I saw your post. Checked out the video and it looks decent. Will try the demo tonight.
Although I did cringe when I saw the Rebellion demo, after that whole AvP fiasco.

Ironically, I haven't been able to play Guild Wars much due to the GW2 beta weekend - as it's being shouldered on the European servers and making it hard to connect/stay connected to the saggenfraggen server! ... so I've been playing the Warlock demo instead  |

I couldn't agree more about Warlock, I've played the demo 3 times even though the start is the same each time. The first play I built a human army with equipment upgrades and felt out the game. The second play I built many mana traps and cast spells and summoned creatures. The last play I just tried, I had a go at storming the portal to the desert world to see if I could settle there... I got my ass handed to me by werewolves, vampires, imps, devils and a greater fire elemental, it was awesome.
I am breaking my "one commandment" and preordering this, the demo is more fun than Civ 5 and is genuinely addictive. Also it's a proper old fashioned demo with a genuine slice of gameplay and replayability that puts some full games to shame.
Edit: Just pre-ordered, the release date is a week away. Wow, I am looking forward to this one and it came out of nowhere! I didn't know it existed a few days back.

Nice debut for TL2, especially since it's just a preorder. I'm sure it's low price isn't hurting it any, either.
And I've seen decent reviews for Walking Dead. Glad Telltale got a hit, as it sounded like JP bombed for them.
