Out of the Blue

Well, it's a sporting weekend, filled with ups and downs for New Yorkers. The Giants seemed to do pretty will in the NFL draft, especially considering they were picking last (I've long ago given up trying to make sense out of what goes on with the Jets). Also, the Rangers won game one of their second round playoff series, which is good considering their close call in the first round. And then there are the Knickerbockers. For a Knicks fan, losing to Miami is about as painful as it can get. I say about, because it turns out losing by a 50% margin (100-67) is actually even worse (though a vast improvement over the 100% margin the game's 62-31 score represented at one point). Oh well, it only counts as one loss. And sympathies to Derrick Rose and Bulls fans, his injury is the last thing an NBA fan would want to have happen. Here's hoping he can eventually make a complete recovery.

Cincinnati Fans are like the Black Knight from Quest for the Holy Grail.
Doesn't matter that they no longer have limbs to play the game, they always have a 'good team this season'.
Anthrax killed the entire team, except a special teams coach and two 3rd string kickers? Bah they got a shot at the Super Bowl!

The Bengals had a pretty good season last year, considering lots of people were predicting they'd only win a couple of games or so (breaking in the new QB and all).

They had an easy schedule, though, so we'll see how it comes out this year.

What you guys don't realize is that for any sports fan there is an excitement before the season starts that remains unabated until the inevitable reality check of the real season sets in. For fans of middling (or just plain bad) teams, it's likely to be the only exciting and optimistic time of the year, so they savior it. Having been a lifelong Jets and (NY) Rangers fan, I know this only too well. It makes it all the more exciting when a rare good season inexplicably happens.

I had a coworker years ago who was a Dolphins fan like that. It was so sad (as they always start the season strong), watching him slowing come to acceptance...

Looks like people think the Bengals had a pretty good draft. We shall see!

Sometimes you never know what you'll find on Blues News. I'd never even bother clicking on an interview with Garry Marshall anyplace else but I saw it here, read the whole thing, and enjoyed it. Now my life is enhanced with newfound knowledge about Garry Marshal.

Ottawa is an extremely underrated, highly talented team, which is why the Rangers barely got past them. Let's go Rangers!! Number1
