I'm sure the game will work great on the average PC on max settings. As always, just turn of Tesselation and that special kinda antialiasing. What's it called? MSAA or FSAA? Anyway, one of those. Still doesn't run alright? Lower the normal AA (that the FSAA one?) down from x8 to x4 or down to x2 and you're most probably good to go with hardly any loss in visual detail.
Been there done that, enough times to know I'mmmm probably right. |

What happens if you have more than 16gb of ram? I guess if we are unlucky the game would just refuse to work. Some games are like that, if you have higher specs than they expect they just don't work.

I really would prefer to play this on PC but yeah, nervous about pre-ordering a Rockstar PC title given their recent track record. |

Silly, sure, but let's not get mad over something that isn't there. Yeah, that's the way I read it too. There's no way that it's going to be able to take advantage of 16GB of RAM - I'd be surprised if it wasn't a 32bit executable, which would limit it to 4GB. Same goes for processors - it's a multi-platform title, so it's unlikely to be well optimised for 6-core. Though graphically it wouldn't surprise me if it required a 680 or 7970 to run well. |

Actually, read the link. Blue is wrong, it is NOT minimum and recommended, it very clearly states these are supported specifications. "Unlisted specifications may not be supported by publisher."
It's a range, as a hyphen would imply.
Also, it's entertaining to see some of the same people that say "consoles hold us back" in a bit of a panic over "oh my god how can this require such high specs?!" Mostly because they're wrong about it requiring them. |

Anyway, 8600gt looks suspiciously low, and the recommended looks too high. This is the new king of unoptimized shit, bye GTA4. GTX 680 is not the recommended video card, just as 16GB could not be the recommended RAM requirement. They just made the dubious decision to write in a range that goes from the minimum to the current maximum specs you could throw at it, in order to say that everything in between will technically work. For the 20 years I've been into PC gaming, system requirements are explained by minimum specs..... and recommended specs. Not minimum specs... and well, anything above that. It's retarded and then they could've just as well mentioned just the minimum specs.
So, following that logic, what I'm reading is that in order to play that game maxed out with 50-60 FPS you need the highest CPU, GPU and RAM in that statement.
It scares the living, unborn abomination brother out of me and looking back at the unoptimized hell that was GTA4, my hopes are sinking up to the day I can try it myself. |

Not good. Certainly not good at all. What? A Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, an 8600GT/HD3400? Since when was 6 year old hardware the "latest"? I'm sorry, with required I meant "recommended". The first specs they show are the minimum. You don't wanna play a game on minimum specs, I say. |
