I don't and likely never will own an iPhone but I know a number of people who have or still do. Any iPhone that's 2 years old or more becomes significantly slower with the iOS update that comes out with the newest one. The 3GS running iOS 5 was a bit of a mess that got corrected to a point but generally Apple is not concerned with supporting any product more than 2 years old. Referred to by many as the Apple Treadmill. Given that we have 3 year cell phone contracts in Canada, that's a major problem. Honestly, Android's not much better though and Windows Phone probably will end up a similar way. Forced obsolescence is what's making the cell phone makers their massive profits right now and allowing people to keep their phones for any kind of reasonable time period screws with their business model. Pretty sad. |
