World of Warcraft Welcome Back

The World of Warcraft Website has a "Welcome Back!" post for recipients of "the new and improved Scroll of Resurrection" who are looking for direction about what to do after reaching level 85 in Blizzard's MMORPG. Word is: "Don’t worry: between dungeons and raids, new battlegrounds, the Archeology profession, more class/race combinations, transmogrification, and the reforging feature, there's plenty of content to explore. Here's a brief overview of some cool stuff that has been added since the release of World of Warcraft: Cataclysm..."

Sorry, but their polishing has decreased a lot too after WoW.
They even leave game breaking bugs in the games for months, even if they were reported in beta tests.
They were much better before.
Honestly, I seriously want to know where all the cash from WoW went. Surely not into customer support or QA, and also not into the creative departments.

I have given up on waiting for BIS to come back to their senses and do a real ArmA 2 successor.

Your entirely correct. Except you missed the point about polish, no one has the ability to polish a game as much as Blizzard does. Their next MMO, codenamed Titan could stay in development for another 5-10 years. Want to know how they can do that? Because no matter what it is, Titan will be a huge success. They play the games they make, over and over again. If you played Wow from the start you will know that Blizzard has refined the game a huge amount. I played EQ2 recently (7 years of Wow is getting to me ..) and found that I have to click 2 times to move an item from my bags to the bank. Sure, its just an extra click, but when I need to do it 20+ times its bloody annoying. It shows how EQ2 developers never play their game, otherwise they would fix it. Wow introduced right click into banks before the first expansion. And thats just a simple example, the EQ2 annoying list is HUGE.

tl;dr Dont compare Blizzard to other developers, no one comes close. Maybe Valve .. but they need new IP's, not rehashed / stolen ones

This is all contingent on having made friends while playing WoW, I couldn't stand the people that played WoW - I guess I don't have to even pay attention.

WoW was the "Beatles" of the MMOs, it was a world phenomenon and gave something on a scale that had never been seen before. That's an incredibly hard achievement to repeat in what is now a diversifying and fragmenting genre. Only something genuinely revolutionary would rejoin the same player base and attain the same level of success that WoW had.

The MMOs on the horizon offer numerous technical improvements, higher production values, better technology... you name it. But can any single product deliver something so special that all MMO players will come across to it? They all offer an evolutionary step on top of what has come before but you can only experience that mind-blowing shattering of your innocence once!

My favorite part is how everyone expects every new MMO to have everything in it to do that WoW has. Nevermind that WoW was in development for 4+ years, and has been out for 7. So any new MMO would have to be in development for 11 years to match the content. Oh, wait, no. By then WoW would have been out another 11 years and would have had another 11 years worth of content, and the new MMO would have to have all that as well.

The problem with your math is that Blizzard is probably the slowest developer out there. Most companies could bang out that same amount of content in half the time. Plus, everyone making games today has a lot more experience and knowledge and much better tools. So that's also a major advantage.

Yup, just take Trion and Rift for example. The game just passed its 1 year anniversary and already has more content than WoW did in its first 3 years until Burning Crusade was released.

Also the, "Wow has been in development for X years and so had more content," is misleading since the only content that matters in WoW, aside from leveling, is the current expansion's content. No one who is max level goes back to do old content because it's pointless and obsolete (unless they're achievement whores). On top of that Blizzard has been releasing less and less original content with each subsequent patch. They're re-using so many old art and story assets now it's a wonder they haven't just made it F2P and release some user development kits for user generated content. In fact this is the reason I canceled my account after finishing Cataclysms raids and haven't for a second thought of going back. Bring on GW2.

I'll wait until they give out a free month to players who only leveled to 85 and quit. Instead of rewarding the people who have played since day one, and been paying since then, whom have taken their time exploring and enjoying somewhat the content they spent time developing only to not hit the cap yet. Oh wait silly me Blizzard was never that desperate for all their problems around launch.

Agreed! How many games so far has really changed the face of MMOGs?

I can think of one... WoW. Granted they can use more content but let's get real, no one has held this many players this long.

I hope he is right but until 30 days after release comes, changing the face is an lol.

Ahhh, the WOW-killer has turned out to be WOW. At some point, even the most enthusiastic fans are going to get tired of the same old grind/mechanic. Without a great guild and the social aspects (which WOW can't manufacture, only make easier), even the veteran player will tire quickly. Once the social group starts to move/flag...

If I had fun in TOR I might not have come back(prolly the worst purchase I've made since AoC), especially with STO having gone F2P I'm pretty much set in terms of mmo's between that and WoW.

Well it's a fair song and dance, but it was around 2 years apparently since I last logged in. It does feel better and combat at least is smoother finally.
