Hitman: Absolution Professional Edition

Square Enix announces the Hitman: Absolution Professional Edition, saying this special edition of the next installment in IO Interactive's stealth/action series is now available for preorder. Here's word:

Square Enix is pleased to reveal the Hitman: Absolution Professional Edition. Featuring a premium hardcover Art Book with a foreword from Game Director Tore Blystad, and an exclusive behind-the-scenes “making of” video, all packaged up in a clamshell box that looks as sharp as Agent 47 does in his suit, the Professional Edition is the ultimate way to experience the living, breathing world of Hitman: Absolution.

Hitman: Absolution Professional Edition also includes advanced access to a range of in-game Agency Weapons, giving the Original Assassin a deadly edge over his enemies from the outset. The Agency Jagd P22G pistol will suit the silent assassins, whilst the Agency HX UMP SMG and the Agency SPS 12 semi-automatic shotgun will give Agent 47 the power to fight his foes head on.

HITMAN: ABSOLUTION follows The Original Assassin undertaking his most personal contract to date. Betrayed by the Agency and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself pursuing redemption in a corrupt and twisted world.

Hitman: Absolution Professional Edition is available to preorder now. Please visit www.Hitman.com for updates.

It's a little different from the previous incarnations but they sort of ran out the formula on the previous games. A little less "Put on the bellhop uniform" and a little more pure stealth could be good.

Have you seen the gameplay demos? There's less stealth overall and more shooting because the levels are much more linear and there are scripted confrontations. Not exactly a good thing, given that the series has always been defined by open-ended levels with open-ended gameplay. I'd prefer that they stick with the formula established by Blood Money and simply improve it. Instead, it looks like they are trying to make the game more "cinematic" and story-driven, which doesn't bode well.
