Well it IS a steam works game so they had this agreement for many months if not years now.
I don't want to rant, I am just waiting for something to finish downloading ;p Well now it's done.. meh :p |

Well back in the real world sometimes they don't announce something because they haven't reached an agreement yet but you clearly just want to rant so whatever  Pretty sure most of us want the game on Steam but release is a ways off yet and its not unusual for retailers to get a small lead time over DD these days. |

Did you even read the news blurb? Premiere club is only given with a pre-order with the listed retailers. Steam is not among them. That means while this is a steam game, your pre-order on steam is worthless in that regard. It does not give you premiere club and does not give you the DLC for free.
If this is not how it is then maybe Gear Box should explain what they mean better. Because thats what their website says.
It's the first few days, give them some time to get it sorted out. When the page went up yesterday Best Buy wasn't even listed and was added later so its all still being worked on. It's also likely that the retailers want an advance period before DD preorders are started but it doesn't necessarily mean that DD preorders won't get bonus content.
When their forums come back up I'll write a quick post asking what the dealio is. |

ChrisF (the Gearbox community guy in the linked thread) said he doesn't have details on Steam pre-orders atm. |

That's not right. The easiest example is GameStop.
Not only do they have PC pre-order bonuses, but they have GameStop exclusive content. Which shows it's possible for a Steamworks game to have content unavailable via the Steam Store.
Another example is Space Marine - this was entirely unavailable for purchase in the UK from Steam until well after launch. |

| That's because Steam isn't a retailer... Borderlands 2 is a Steamworks game, so the only way to play it is by getting yourself a Steam key, whether through online services or from a retail box. Not offering pre-order bonuses on Steam will mean they won't be offered on PC at all. I know people like to take a "glass half empty" view on things around here, but I just can't see that happening, not when they're making the extra effort to please us by fixing all the issues we had with the first game. |

Also, there's the Creature Slaughter Dome which you can only get from US Gamestop.
Missing out on actual content because I pre-ordered from the wrong place (or waited for a review) sucks. They're adding pitfalls to the process of buying the game, which is stupid. Patient people will just wait for GOTY, and unscrupulous people will wait for the pirated version. |

| It's worth considering. If someone else is making the class and it turns out to be way overpowered, it's going to get nerfed down and people who preordered will hate it. Or, it's going to be severely underpowered and people who preordered will hate it. |

When they announced it, all they had was concept art... If you choose to flat-out disbelieve what they've said about it being a brand new idea, late in development when they're pushing hard to meet their target date with the existing workload (not to mention assume they won't be taking the time to properly balance it), that's your problem. |
