I recall a hardware site doing a very thorough comparison using a variety of methods. That should've put it to rest, though I don't remember the "answer".
Personally I just use stock everything, and if that includes some manufacturer applied thermal paste then that's what I stay with. Never had an issue. |

It still is. I wipe all that crap off and apply a very nice portion then level it out with a credit card or similar device. Evenly distributed across the connection, then wipe excess off once parts are secured. |

| I can speak up for grill pads, we have a big one on the deck out back and it's been fine for the past few years. Most of the time when people have deck fires its because they took no precautions. |

Look on the bright side - we have snow coming down here. Nothing accumulating, but we're three weeks removed from having temperatures approach 90 in Southwest Michigan.

Blue, you can buy pads to put underneath the grill that supposedly protect from fire/sparks as well as drips and such...
Grill Pads
Full disclosure - I have never used these, no idea how well they actually work, but it might be worth looking into |

Yep. Yell Mrs. Blue she may very well be responsible for burning the county down if the grill doesn't get moved to the deck. |
