Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning DLC This Month

38 Studios and EA announce Teeth of Naros, a DLC pack for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning coming to 38 Studios' role-playing game on April 17th for all platforms. Word is: "Players will journey through a forgotten land called the Teeth of Naros, a harsh environment named after an ancient troll god. In this new journey players will encounter the Kollossae, a devout race of giants, and uncover the mysteries of their faith." Here's the feature list:

  • A New City – Explore the city of Idylla, which magically floats in the sky above the Teeth of Naros featuring more than 20 side quests, multiple dungeons and a mysterious new race
  • New Enemies and Dungeons – Players will take part in a crucible of faith and tribulation with new dangers and enemies as they journey through five enormous new dungeons
  • New Twists of Fate and Items – Three new Twists of Fate, nine new armor sets, six new shields and 18 new unique weapons for players to choose from as they journey through this new world

One thing I will say, at least these guys release their DLC while the game is potentially still being played by a lot of people.

It's been four months and counting for Skyrim, and eh.... yeah.

Skyrim doesn't exactly need DLC though, it shipped with a staggering amount of content. Bethesda can afford to take the time and do their DLC right. It makes sense too, most people are done with Skyrim for now but will be ready to revisit it in six months. These guys need the money.

Can't belive you made me defend Skyrim, shame on you. Time to play more Two Worlds II!

Meh. I enjoyed it. It's a bit of fun light entertainment. Think of it as the gaming equivalent of the popcorn movie.

The bloom is easily turned off in the PC version though doing that doesnt improve the repetitive gameplay.

Doing so turns off all post processing. There was a little user utility to do it but I'm not sure if its maintained anymore.

Edit: Oh and the bloom, good grief. I've never seen a game with such an overused bloom filter.

Syndicate, Syndicate, SYNDICATE - there, i said it ;9

By the way, you can disable and edit bloom in games that use DX9 with the FXAA injector (same one thats used for skyrim, it can be used for MANY MANY other games) though toning down excessive bloom requires a lot of fiddling

Bloom is used because its cheap resource-wise and masks a lot of warts on the consoles.

Could someone enlight me? Whats so good about this game? I never EVER head about Kingdoms of Amalur ¿*saga*? Thanks!

It has an okay combat system but that's really about it. It's extremely generic and suffered from the whole designed by committee thing. So many half baked elements in the game that just needed more polish, it felt like they were just ticking boxes off a checklist.

Edit: Oh and the bloom, good grief. I've never seen a game with such an overused bloom filter.

It's a console RPG designed exclusively for the 360 specifically. I honestly haven't had buyers remorse like this for a game since Brink. If you're bored with nothing else to play I'd suggest giving it a go...when it hits $5 on Steam. Pay anything more and you'll regret it.

Thanks. Guess its not worth it.

The worst bloom in history is in "Nail'd", I've posted a thred on steam forums for the issue.

Duke Nukem Forever had some bad bloom, but you could turn it off. I'm not sure why developers love this effect so much...where in reality does anything look like that? It makes the game look like a soap opera dream sequence.
