Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Kickstarts

A Kickstarter Campaign is now underway to fund a new Leisure Suit Larry game, as Replay games has teamed with Al Lowe and the other developers of the original games in the lecherous adventure series (thanks nin via Kotaku). They offer a range of incentives for supporting the project, including the chance to be in the game itself.

Yeah, I was kinda surprised by this Kickstarter considering that I'd already seen all the screenshots months ago. This just seems like a way to get lots of cash up front, particularly with the $100+ options. Normally a game like this would only fetch budget prices but each $1000 contribution is the equivalent of 100 sales.

The game looks decent but I never played the original and I have so many games that look good that I never get around to playing. I think I'll pass on this, though I got in on the Double Fine and Wastleland 2 KS's and Natural Selection 2 (which pre-empted the whole Kickstarter craze).
