PC Binary Domain Next Month

The SEGA Blog has word on plans to bring Binary Domain to Windows next month, offering PC gamers the chance to play this third-person shooter recently released for consoles:

Announced today, the much anticipated third-person squad shooter Binary Domain will be released on PC this April. PC fans who have been requesting this game – your words have been heard! We’re proud to announce that the truly unique story and setting of Binary Domain will soon be on your preferred platform!

For those that haven’t heard, Binary Domain is a pioneering third-person squad shooter from the creators of the Yakuza series. Set in 2080 Tokyo, Binary Domain paints a vivid picture of a country in social and environmental meltdown; players will battle against robotic defenses in a city where climate change has forced many to live in extreme poverty in the slums, while the others live in the near future upper city built on top of the lower city. With a central branching storyline, voice recognition in combat and conversation, and AAA shooter mechanics Binary Domain offers something genuinely unique to the genre.

“As well as the excitement generated by Binary Domain in the console press we were seeing increasing numbers of players asking for a PC version. So we listened and we delivered.” said Gary Knight, Senior Vice President of Marketing at SEGA.

I won a promo copy of this for PS3 and it is pretty standard cover based shooter. The worse part of it is the voice acting its pretty awful at some points

Turd person games would have been better in first person. With that said, I did enjoy many turd person games. Have you seen the gta4 first person mod? Raises the immersion tenfold. As for my judgement of Binary domain's japanese heritage, years of hardcore gaming have made me seldom wrong.

If a game is a decent game, I'll play it, first or 3rd person as long as the gameplay lends itself well to its chosen perspective.

Sonic Generations was a decent port from what I've heard. I'm not expecting this to be a DX:HR-caliber port but it might be decent.

So you think Ghost in the Shell is also Japanese nonsense? Judging from your limited perspective on how something is you haven't play or experienced yet is called prejudice and has never served anyone well when it came to judging how good a game or movie is. The only thing thats 100% sure with Sega in control is that this is gonna be a terrible port.

Pretty surprising to see a game coming to the PC, an unannounced platform, only 6 weeks from its console debut. Pretty shocking to see it being from a Japanese developed game. This is a rare sight and hopefully catches on with other Japanese developers
