Double Fine Kickstart Ending; Wasteland 2 Kickstart Beginning

Double Fine Adventure by Double Fine and 2 Player Productions Kickstarter Campaign will conclude today, offering the last chance to earn supporter rewards (thanks nin). They passed the $3 million plateau last night, so the game's $400,000 budget seems pretty covered. In other Kickstarter news, the promised Wasteland 2 by inXile entertainment Kickstarter Campaign is now underway to fund the $900,000 budget for the post-apocalyptic RPG sequel. They offer their own set of supporter rewards, and the following outline of the project:

For Wasteland 2, we’re getting the band back together again!. Brian Fargo who Executive Produced both Wasteland and Fallout will be heading the team. Alan Pavlish and Mike Stackpole—the original game’s primary designers—are coming back to put the project together, and we’re rounding up as many of the other designers, like Ken St. Andre, as we can. On top of that, we’ll have music by Mike Morgan of Fallout 1 and 2 fame. The storyline for Wasteland 2 was written by Jason Anderson who was the co-creator of Fallout. We have also enlisted the help of the amazing concept artist, Andree Wallin to help craft the Wasteland 2 world.

His video portrayal of publishers is also 100% correct.

Hey, Brian got off the pot!

900K should be manageable for a title as beloved as Wasteland. Especially since everyone who fondly remembers Wasteland is at least 30+ years old, so most should have enough disposable income to cough up $15.

Ohhhhhhh yessssssss! Mark Morgan (not "Mike") alone is worth kicking in a few hundred bucks. Loved his work in Fallout and Planescape -- some of the finest atmospheric soundtracks ever made.

Gladly donated this morning. Without Wasteland at least half of my library of games never would have existed.

Me: Morning Tim, I need you to transer my entire life savings to a man named Brian Fargo & the Wasteland 2 project.

Tim: WHAT are you out of your EFFING MIND?

Me: Tim....Tim, you dont seem to understand here, this is WASTELAND one of the most epic & amazing games EVER.

Tim: Oh...Wasteland...This sounds like a sound investment...lol

Not certain I like the whole places named after donees thing (NPCs makes plenty of sense), but at least this isn't truly crowd-sourced like that tactical game is proposing (such a disaster.)

Not sure how much I'll give for this, as seeing an NPC named after me sounds pretty awesome.

Pledged $100 a moment ago.

Crowdsourcing has the potential to make a lot of dreams come true

Wonder what other developers of great older games will come out of the woodworks now?

Was thinking this morning, wouldn't it be neat if we had devs that specialized in creating games, based on crowdsourcing requests?

I'm not holding my breath, but it would be awesome if it caught on, and people continued their support.

edit: Looks like funding is off to a good start. I'll kick in tonight.

I put in my $15...can't beat getting a good old fashioned tactical rpg for so little. No DRM, no DLC (I hope), just a good game. Wonder what other developers of great older games will come out of the woodworks now?

I did not play the original Wasteland. However, I have seen it listed on "Hall of Fame" lists and such in the past. Good luck to them, it will be interesting to see if it goes as well for them as it did for Double Fine. The purchase of either of those games by me will be dependent on reviews of the games after their respective releases.

The $100 option there looks attractive also. But this shit is getting expensive. Also I'm not sure I trust Fargo and company quite as much as I do DF.
