Rainbow Six Patriots Shakeup

Ubisoft Montreal has implemented significant changes to the development team for Rainbow 6 Patriots, just over four months after revealing plans for the next installment in this series of Tom Clancy-branded tactical shooters, reports GameInformer. Their initial report states that this involved the removal of creative director David Sears, narrative director Richard Rouse III, lead designer Philippe Therien, and animation director Brent George, and they have the following follow-up statement from Ubisoft confirming the game has a new creative director, though the remainder of the reported changes go unaddressed:

David Sears is no longer on the Tom Clancy’s Rainbow 6 Patriots team and the new Creative Director is Jean-Sebastien Decant. The development team is still hard at work to deliver the next installment of the revered Tom Clancy series and more details on the game will be revealed at a later date.

There's no word on how this may affect plans to release the game next year.

Well, honestly I did not see any game footage or screenshots. I was going purely on what the developer was saying. If what you say is true, it is a shame that he would seem to know what people wanted and just said a bunch of BS. I dont care who makes what, just give us a R6 like back in the old days. I think the last R6 game I liked was the one before they gave all the operatives "baseball caps on backwards". Once that crap started I stopped playing. Arma II is about the only realistic tactical game out there that is currently new, unless of course, someone knows of a title I dont.

Funny, everything they showed up to this point looked like the exact opposite of what you're claiming. Of course the devs are going to say "we're trying to keep it old school." That's what they always do to pimp their game. Then they say "cinematic" and "action movie" and "realistic" (heh) and you know they're just jacking you off.

It's hard to believe that the ex-creative director had a vision to encapsulate the original R6 style, judging from that piece of shit concept video they released.

There's no one left in the game industry that is going to return the game to 2003 style from RvS and prior. The video I saw of this looked nothing like old R6. It's old enough for the fired devs to have been involved with it.

Maybe they read the incredible backlash from that preview video? People hated the direction this game was going, it looked like a cookie cutter COD game. Whatever happened to the intense realism & tactical decisions that were required on the old R6 games.... =(

God I wish man. It doesn't matter, Medal of Honor and Homefront proved you can make an incredibly mediocre FPS experience and sell millions to an audience who has no standards. You almost can't even blame Ubisoft for going this route, it's like all of the infantry-only crap going into BF games because console players saw the shiny new Frostbite graphics and decided to stick around. It's the will of the market and the market is a gang of idiots.
